Why do plants turn towards the sun?

If plants didn't do this, they wouldn't be able to live. They would have nothing to eat. The leaves produce nutrition in the form of glucose for the entire plant. The leaves contain a special green substance that causes the production of glucose. This substance is called chlorophyll. Chlorophyll can only produce sugar in the presence of light. This process is called photosynthesis, which means "operating by light." Therefore, we can tell why plants turn their leaves towards the sun.

But how do plants do it? Botanists say that plants are phototropic, that is, they turn towards the sun. And they do it in the following way. Plant cells contain a special substance. This substance moves away from the Sun. When the plant is not lit, this substance collects in the cells on the side of the stem that is in the shade. It causes the cells on that side of the plant to grow faster than on the light side. Under the influence of this plant bends towards the light.

We don't usually think of plants as moving things. This is because the movement of plants is so slow that it is difficult to follow. But if you watch certain plants in high-speed photography, you will notice that the leaves, flowers, and stems are in constant motion, even when there is no wind. Some plants move quickly. Pumpkin, zucchini, cucumbers can completely wrap around the support they put in ten minutes.

Where is the lake located, which every year hides a whole park under water for a while?

Lake Gruner is located in Austria, surrounded by mountains on all sides. In winter, the depth of the lake is 1-2 meters, and the area around it serves as a park. But in spring, snow begins to melt in the mountains, feeding the lake with new water, and by May its depth increases to 12 meters. Under the surface of the lake there are trees, paths, benches, which, combined with crystal clear water, makes it a popular place for diving at this time.

Latest news of science and technology, new electronics:

The existence of an entropy rule for quantum entanglement has been proven 09.05.2024

Quantum mechanics continues to amaze us with its mysterious phenomena and unexpected discoveries. Recently, Bartosz Regula from the RIKEN Center for Quantum Computing and Ludovico Lamy from the University of Amsterdam presented a new discovery that concerns quantum entanglement and its relation to entropy. Quantum entanglement plays an important role in modern quantum information science and technology. However, the complexity of its structure makes understanding and managing it challenging. Regulus and Lamy's discovery shows that quantum entanglement follows an entropy rule similar to that for classical systems. This discovery opens new perspectives in the field of quantum information science and technology, deepening our understanding of quantum entanglement and its connection to thermodynamics. The results of the study indicate the possibility of reversibility of entanglement transformations, which could greatly simplify their use in various quantum technologies. Opening a new rule ... >>
