Why are some people afraid of heights?

As humans, we are subject not only to physical pain, but also to emotional "pain." Any situation can cause us a strong emotional shock. Sometimes we react quite simply to it. For example, we may scream, blush, or break out in sweat. But sometimes, when the emotional load is too great or our resistance is weak, we may show a different reaction to these loads. One of them is called the phobic reaction.

This means that the emotional load, or excitement, anxiety is combined with a specific object or situation. If the object that causes such a state is avoided, the anxiety state with which it is associated can also be prevented. Some of the common phobias are the fear of enclosed, cramped spaces, large, open spaces, crowds, heights, darkness, animals, or germs.

Of course, a person who has such a phobia (fear of heights, for example) does not understand where he got it from. The only thing he knows is that he is afraid of a certain situation and therefore avoids it. He may even be aware that his fear has no reason. To illustrate this point, let's consider a child growing up in an ordinary family: he loves his family, but sometimes he is afraid of one of them.

For example, he may be afraid of his father, even if he loves him. It is unpleasant for him to realize that he is afraid of his father, so he subconsciously hides this feeling. He can transfer this fear to something high, and from here he may develop a fear of heights. It is necessary to know that many people suffer from such fears, and these anxiety conditions can be cured with the help of medicine. We must show sympathy and understanding towards those who suffer from such a disease.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

TI Hercules RM57Lx and TMS570LCx microcontrollers 30.05.2014

Texas Instruments (TI) has expanded the SafeTI family of components with two series of microcontrollers based on dual-core 32-bit ARM Cortex-R5 processors: Hercules RM57Lx and TMS570LCx.

Among the unique features of the new representatives of the Hercules platform, the manufacturer refers to the presence of floating-point units, which provide a 50% increase in computing performance compared to any other TI microcontroller currently produced. This allows you to replace several other microcontrollers or a bunch of microcontroller and FPGA with one Hercules.

Other advantages of the new products include the largest amount of built-in flash memory and RAM among other representatives of the Hercules platform. More specifically, the flash program memory is up to 4 MB and the RAM is 512 KB. An additional 128 KB of Flash is used for EEPROM emulation.

To facilitate adoption of the new microcontrollers, they are pin- and software-compatible with previously released Hercules models. TI Hercules RM57Lx and TMS570LCx microcontrollers are designed for industrial, medical and on-board electronics, as well as transport security management systems.

Price Hercules RM57Lx - from $28,32 apiece, Hercules TMS570LCx - from $32,15.
