Does a bee die by biting?

Many people consider the bee their enemy, at least when they come face to face with it. The first thing you think when you see her is - "Oh! Oh! She wants to bite me!"

But what we overlook is that there are a thousand different kinds of bees, and many of them don't sting at all. But one thing applies to all of them - this is that they all benefit a person. The reason is that all bees pollinate plants during flowering and this increases the yield. Over 50 crops depend on pollination by bees!

Like all insects, the bee has six legs. Her body is divided into three main parts: head, thoracic, or middle, section and abdomen. On the head is a pair of antennae, two large connected eyes, three separate jaws and a tongue.

Attached to the chest are three pairs of legs and two pairs of wings. In all species of bees, it is the legs that are involved in pollination. Some individuals have special baskets on their paws for collecting pollen.

Most females have a sting that can be ejected from the end of the abdomen. Bee stings are, of course, of little pleasure, but they are rarely serious. Perhaps we believe that bees die after a bite, because in this way we are trying to compensate for negative emotions. But in reality, this is not at all the case!

Many species of bees can use their stinger many times. The worker bee has a stinger, so when it bites, it gets stuck in the skin.

Random interesting fact from the Great Encyclopedia:

Why are some insects harmful to humans?

In nature, there are many insects useful and necessary for humans. But there are also others who bite and sting and spread disease. Some insects are harmful and should be avoided. The black widow spider belongs to this group. It can be found from southern California to Chile, especially in damp, secluded areas. The venom of this spider causes severe pain and spasm of the intestinal muscles. Many victims of this spider die.

Most insect bites are temporary and not very serious. But some people are allergic to bee and wasp stings. In the event of a bite, such people need to consult a doctor, get a medicine that prevents the occurrence of an allergic reaction. Some types of mosquitoes carry disease-causing bacteria, such as yellow fever, malaria, and sleeping sickness. Insects carry these microbes and pass them on to the bitten prey.

Typhoid is a disease carried by lice. It is a very serious danger when people are forced to live very crowded. Flies are carriers of cholera, dysentery, hepatitis and typhoid fever. All diseases transmitted by insects are less likely to occur in well-cleaned places, clean, where there is no dust. In such conditions, it is more difficult for insects to reproduce.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

5000 cd/m2 wearable display 26.12.2014

Telepathy Japan has unveiled a wearable display created in collaboration with Hitachi and Hitachi-LG Data Storage. The display brightness reaches 5000 cd / m2, which, according to the developers, allows you to use it even in bright sunlight.

The display uses LCOS (liquid crystal on silicon) technology. To increase the brightness, a scheme with a sequential output of three primary colors was used. Display resolution - 960 x 540 pixels (qHD). The screen is perceived by the user as a monitor measuring about 40 cm diagonally.

According to the manufacturer, the design of the display is such that it does not interfere with the perception of the surrounding space.
