What makes us feel hungry?

When we need food, our body begins to demand it. But how do we know when we feel hungry? How does our brain receive this message and make us feel hungry?

Hunger has nothing to do with an empty stomach, as many people think. After all, a newborn does not feel hungry for several days. Patients often, despite the lack of food in the stomachs, do not want to eat.

Hunger begins with a lack of certain nutrients in the blood. When the blood vessels need them, a message is sent to the part of the brain called the "hunger center". This center of hunger is, as it were, a regulator of the work of the stomach and intestines. If there is enough food in the blood, the hunger center slows down the work of the stomach and intestines. When there is not enough food in the blood, the hunger center activates their work. This is why a hungry person often hears the "rumbling" of his stomach.

When we are hungry, our body does not require any special food, it just needs food. But our appetite ensures that we do not satisfy our hunger with any one food, which would harm the body. For example, it would be difficult for us to get the amount of food required by the body only in the form of vegetables. But if we eat soup until we've had enough, then meat and vegetables until we're full, and finally dessert, we can get the same amount of food and enjoy it!

How long can we go without food? It depends on the individual. A very calm person may not eat longer than a highly excitable person, since the protein reserves in his body are used up more slowly. The world record for the duration of fasting was claimed by some woman in South Africa, who, according to her own statement, lived on the same water for 102 days!

What is a drug?

Today we often hear and read about drug addicts and the problems associated with them. These questions concern each of us. "Dope" is slang for drug.

Drugs are a special group of drugs that have an analgesic and hypnotic effect. They give a feeling of temporary sedation, known in medicine as anesthesia. All drugs should only be taken as directed by a doctor. If drugs are taken frequently, then a person becomes addicted, attracted to them. This means that now the person must take them regularly, and if this is not the case, then the person experiences great suffering. And once you start taking drugs, it is very difficult to quit them later. Drug addicts will pay big money for drugs, which are always obtained illegally, they will steal, commit other crimes to pay for them.

Here are the 5 most famous drugs: morphine, codeine, heroin, cocaine and marijuana.

Morphine is one of the best pain relievers. It is made from opium. Morphine has the strongest effect on the human brain. After taking it, anxiety disappears, the person becomes calm, relaxed, often sleepy. But the drug does not affect hearing, sight, touch.

Codeine relieves pain, but it has very little effect on the brain, so it is rarely used by drug addicts.

Heroin, on the other hand, gives a feeling of well-being, but is a weak pain reliever. Heroin production is banned in the US today due to its low medical effect.

Cocaine is a drug made from the leaves of the coca plant. The effect of cocaine on the brain is the strongest.

Marijuana is extracted from various plants, primarily from hemp. It is not used in medicine, but is used by drug addicts when smoking (dry leaves and flowers of hemp are used instead of tobacco). No person - no matter how old - should use drugs without the prescription and supervision of a physician.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>
