Achilles died at the Skeisky gate from two arrows of Paris directed by Apollo: the first arrow, hitting the heel, deprived Achilles of the opportunity to rush at the enemy, and the second struck him in the chest.

According to another version, Achilles was the victim of a conspiracy. He fell in love with the Trojan princess Polixena, whom her father Priam offered him as his wife on the condition that the siege of Troy be lifted. But Polyxena, who could not forgive Achilles for the death of her brother Troilus, managed to learn that Achilles' heel was vulnerable.

At her request, he came barefoot and unarmed to seal the treaty with a sacrifice in the temple of Apollo. Deiphobus, the brother of Polyxena, pressed Achilles to his chest, and Paris, her other brother, stabbed him in the heel with a poisoned arrow, or, as some say, with a sword.
