We all love operators. This is an important and necessary profession. It is a pleasure to work with a competent operator. But life is not only about pleasures.

These are the exceptions that will be discussed.

1. "Live camera". One of the most annoying tricks in the operator's arsenal. It is considered very fashionable, so everyone uses it, but few know how to do it. In theory, this method of shooting should lead to a more realistic picture. Introducing the element of "shooting on the fly" into professional photography, it should blur the artificiality of staged scenes. However, for the exception to work, you need to follow the rules. In fact, instead of a slightly "breathing" camera, we get thoughtless flickering in the spirit of a drunken home video. It is absolutely impossible to see even with a trained eye.

2. "Plan with bushes". All operators are taught that there must be a foreground. They are sure that a well-detailed picture will only decorate the film and the program. From this, a simple conclusion is made that it is necessary to shove everything that comes to hand into the frame. Usually something completely ridiculous comes across. Dirty bushes, pieces of furniture or the remains of scenery. The fact that at the moment it is not these objects that are being filmed, but, for example, the leading one, is not an argument for the operator. The result is a frame that makes us feel like a partisan sneaking through the bushes. You have to stealthily look at what is happening on the set.

3. "Football goal". The world is full of temptations. Operators are creative people, therefore they are subject to temptations to the fullest. When the operator sees something that naturally limits the frame, he loses his will. It can be two trees, a doorway or a window. The existing frames neatly fit into the frame and we see something on the screen, like photo wallpapers. So sometimes, as a joke, false doors or false windows are painted on the wall.

4. "Interruptions on the fly". Breaks are a useful thing. It is a pleasure to work with an operator who competently and on time removes interruptions. The key word here is "on time". Quite often, the desire for interruptions occurs with the operator during the shooting of the main working material. It is very difficult to resist negative emotions, having flower pots, stationery or teddy bears instead of the protagonist's plan in the montage.

5. "Rebuilding on the fly". We are all strong "rear" mind. We always know how to do something right when it's already been done. But creative insight can come a little earlier. For example, right during the working take of the final scene. Then the operator needs to urgently correct the light, change the angle, or even radically change the entire mise-en-scene. To prove to the operator that the filming material made up to this point is also needed for editing is almost unrealistic. He found his camera ideal and he doesn't care that during editing you will have a different number of actors, different lighting and arrangement of objects before and after gluing.

6. "We save film". Often, some "responsible" operators have an itch for savings. In their opinion, having broken code is better than wasting an extra couple of seconds. Needless to say, the opinion of a director who wastes time on synchronization will be fundamentally different from the opinion of such a cameraman?

7. "Forgot to turn off the camera". The most harmless "jamb". It serves to entertain assistants, editors and directors while reviewing and digitizing material. Nothing beautiful is alien to cameramen, and sometimes they specifically shoot something just out of love for art. For example, the cute legs of a casual acquaintance.

8. "Photoshoot". Fighting this problem is useless in principle. If a person does not understand the difference between "photo" and "video" medicine is powerless. It remains only to drive this from the camera. Otherwise, asking the operator to shoot the scene "Gerasim drowns Mu-mu", you will have a beautiful, but absolutely useless five-second shot of the boat.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Perovskite Improves Silicon Solar Cell Efficiency 07.03.2020

Researchers at Colorado State University (CU Boulder) have created a low-cost solar cell with some of the highest power conversion efficiency available today using a combination of silicon and perovskite layers.

"We've taken a product that's responsible for a $30 billion a year industry and made it 30% better," said Michael McGehee, professor in the CU Boulder Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering and co-author of a paper on the development. published in the journal Science.

The scientists placed a layer of a perovskite solar cell on top of a silicon counterpart, which captures lower-energy photons from the infrared part of the spectrum. The intrinsic efficiency of the silicon element was 21%, but the addition of perovskite improved it by about a third, to 27%.

The concept of multijunction or tandem solar cells has been known for about half a century, and the world record for efficiency achieved with its application is more than 45%. However, the cost of such record-breaking panels - $80 per square meter - makes the prospects for their widespread use unrealistic.

The use of halide perovskite makes it possible to reduce the cost of a layered solar cell by more than two orders of magnitude. The unique composition of the perovskite crystal - a precisely adjusted ratio of bromine, iodine and chlorine, providing the best combination of efficiency and stability - is the result of research that has stretched over the past decade.

Such perovskites are easy to synthesize even under laboratory conditions. In tests over 1000 hours or almost 42 days, the new tandem elements showed minimal change in original efficiency.

Professor McGee believes that exceeding the maximum efficiency of a silicon solar cell does not exhaust the full potential of the broadband multilayer structures developed by his group.

"We think they can break the 30% efficiency threshold and still be stable," he says.

I read it and laughed :) the first article of many, which shows operator errors and in simple language ... the operator himself made almost many of the described errors. 3. "Football gates" - that's for sure, you see a faceless frame, you select the angle, and it's so sad in your soul, but the task has been set, but you really want space for your soul :) And with the saving of film it was the other way around :) I stopped turning off the camera when I realized , that behind the scenes you can say a lot of superfluous things :) it’s definitely noticed that the one who shot on a DSLR is difficult to learn to shoot video. Thanks for the article [up]
