  • A/B Roll - Editing with two source VCRs, in which each of them works to play material only within the marked editing fragments. While information from one video source is being recorded to the recorder, the other is in the state of searching for the next fragment by the specified marks or in the "pause" (still) mode. Both sources work for playback only at the moment of transition of the video signal for recording from one source to another.

  • Linear video editing - Editing in which images are played back exactly in the order they were recorded.
  • Nonlinear video editing - Editing in any sequence, in which there is instant access to any point of the video material.
  • Mounting List (EDL) - List of all editing operations performed during one editing session.
  • Timeline (Timeline) - A reference time signal of variable duration, during which various events occur at certain time points.
  • Component video - A term for video signals in which luminance and chrominance signals are transmitted independently, such as analog components in the Betacam format, digital components in the CCIR 601 standard. RGB is also a component signal.
  • CCIR 601 (ITU-R) - International standard for sampling color image components in 525 and 625 line decomposition systems.
  • YUV - Designation of analog brightness and color difference signals.
  • Y,Pr,Pb (Y,Cr,Cb) - Designation of digital brightness and color difference signals.
  • Chrominance - The color portion of the signal, related to hue and saturation, but not to luminance. In this sense, black, gray, and white dots have no color, but any other "colored" point has both chroma and luminosity.
  • Brightness - One of the components of image information. Denoted Y.
  • Electronic key projection (Keying) - The process of selectively overlaying a section of one picture onto another.
  • Chroma Key (Chroma key(ing)) - The process of replacing sections of a certain color from one picture to another.
  • Luma key (Luma key(ing)) - The process of replacing areas of a certain brightness from one picture to another.
  • Keyer - The general name of the key device for superimposing one signal on another.
  • Genlock (Genlock) - External synchronization. Synchronization of two video signals with a full TV frame. The source of the complete TV signal used, for example, to synchronize several cameras, can be a generator, a computer, or one of the cameras, which is considered the main one in the system. Slang synonym - conducting.
  • Video overlay - A way to reflect a conventional analog video signal on a personal computer.
  • Alpha channel (alpha-channel) - An additional signal that sets the degree of "transparency" of the image.
  • DSP (digital signal processing) - Digital signal processing.
  • DVE (Digital Video Effects) - Digital video effects.
  • Codec - Abbreviation for the words "coder-decoder".
  • Compression - A process to reduce the required bandwidth or bit rate in video applications.
  • AVI (Audio Video Interleaved) - Interleaved audio and video recording. Microsoft's standard codec and file format for recording digital video files.
  • Character generator - Used to create titles and titles.
  • Time code (TC Timecode) - Real-time signal that the desired image is in playback mode.
  • LTC - Longitudinal time code.
  • GPI (General Purpose Interface) - General purpose interface. It is used to work with mounting marks, usually according to the simple principle of closing contacts at the right time when an impulse arrives.
  • SDI - Serial digital interface developed by Sony.

Latest news of science and technology, new electronics:

The existence of an entropy rule for quantum entanglement has been proven 09.05.2024

Quantum mechanics continues to amaze us with its mysterious phenomena and unexpected discoveries. Recently, Bartosz Regula from the RIKEN Center for Quantum Computing and Ludovico Lamy from the University of Amsterdam presented a new discovery that concerns quantum entanglement and its relation to entropy. Quantum entanglement plays an important role in modern quantum information science and technology. However, the complexity of its structure makes understanding and managing it challenging. Regulus and Lamy's discovery shows that quantum entanglement follows an entropy rule similar to that for classical systems. This discovery opens new perspectives in the field of quantum information science and technology, deepening our understanding of quantum entanglement and its connection to thermodynamics. The results of the study indicate the possibility of reversibility of entanglement transformations, which could greatly simplify their use in various quantum technologies. Opening a new rule ... >>
