Man's face

Visual (optical) illusions / Aftereffect

Stare at the left image for 30 seconds. Then look at the right empty square. The face of Che Guevara should appear.

Woman's face

Visual (optical) illusions / Aftereffect

On the left picture is the negative of the woman's face. Look at the face for 30 seconds, then look at the right side of the drawing - the white image. You should see a positive image.

Stare at the center of the bulb's spiral for 30 seconds, then look at the empty square

Visual (optical) illusions / Aftereffect

You will see the light bulb turn on.

Motion Aftereffect

Look continuously for 30 seconds at the center of the rotating spiral.

Visual (optical) illusions / Aftereffect

Now look at the objects in the room or at someone's face.

Visual (optical) illusions / Aftereffect

Larger picture version.

Living XNUMXD surface

Visual (optical) illusions / Aftereffect

Look at the red dot in the center of the left picture for about a minute or two. Then look at the right picture. The right drawing comes to life and starts to move.

Aquarium

Visual (optical) illusions / Aftereffect

Look at the fish for 30 seconds, then look at the right picture. Did you see a fish in an aquarium?

McKay illusion

Visual (optical) illusions / Aftereffect

If, after considering this picture, you look at an empty wall, an aftereffect occurs, similar to moving grains of rice.

Letters in a circle

Visual (optical) illusions / Aftereffect

Look at the top picture for 30 seconds, then look at the bottom one. You should see the letters "a" inside the circle.

Ghost

Visual (optical) illusions / Aftereffect

Look at the ghost's mouth for 30 seconds, then look at the gate. See the reflection of the ghost in the gate?

mars control

Visual (optical) illusions / Aftereffect

Look at the red dot in the center for 15-30 seconds. Now start moving away from the monitor. You should see the gray vertical (blurred) lines start to expand. If it doesn't work, then try to start viewing from a closer distance from the monitor. This effect is explained by the paradox of lateral (peripheral) vision.

Mars eclipse

Visual (optical) illusions / Aftereffect

Look at the white dot in the center of the red circle. The longer, the stronger the effect. For example, 2 minutes. Always try to keep the white point in focus and not get lost. After a while, you will clearly see a bright red ring around the circle. Keep watching for about a minute. Don't turn your head. Now slowly move your eyes to the right drawing, while trying to keep the left drawing in focus. The circle should glow purple and the red circle should turn dark grey.

vanishing line

Visual (optical) illusions / Aftereffect

Look at the white square... and after a while the line at the bottom will disappear! (due to retinal fatigue). If it doesn't work, try changing the distance to the monitor or the size of the picture. The effect works if you look at the point without being distracted for 1-2 minutes.

fading color

Visual (optical) illusions / Aftereffect

Look at the center of the square for a few seconds. The squares in the center will begin to gradually disappear.

Another fading color option:

Visual (optical) illusions / Aftereffect

Red or blue?

Visual (optical) illusions / Aftereffect

Look in the center and after a while the circles will be dominated by red, but look away a bit and you will see that the blue color prevails!

Different colors become the same

Look at the point in the center without stopping for 30 seconds.

Visual (optical) illusions / Aftereffect

Now take a look at this photo.

Visual (optical) illusions / Aftereffect

You won't see any difference in color between the right and left halves of the photo.

baby photo

Visual (optical) illusions / Aftereffect

An illusion similar to the previous one.

Black and white snag

Visual (optical) illusions / Aftereffect

Stare at the black dot until the rectangle is filled. The photo will change to black and white, but you will see everything in colors.

Illusion of Hermann-Goering

The effect of physiological nystagmus.

Visual (optical) illusions / Aftereffect

If you stare at a black dot, trying not to take your eyes off it, then after about 30 seconds, the black and white parts of the image will begin to oscillate. If you then look at the white dot, you can see a set of white squares on a black background (i.e., a consistent image) superimposed on the real drawing. This consistent image will move around the drawing all the time, no matter how hard you try to keep it in place.

Disappearing Spots

Visual (optical) illusions / Aftereffect

Look closely at the dot in the center of the picture. After a while, the colored spots in the picture will disappear.

Whose portrait?

Visual (optical) illusions / Aftereffect

Visual (optical) illusions / Aftereffect

Focus your gaze on the red dot for 30 seconds, then move your gaze to the white sheet of paper or the ceiling. Learned?

colored beach

Visual (optical) illusions / Aftereffect

Focus on the red dot. After a while, the black and white beach will become colored.

Santa Claus

Visual (optical) illusions / Aftereffect

Look at the picture for about 30 seconds, then look at the wall or sheet of paper. Have you seen Santa Claus in color?

Mountains

Visual (optical) illusions / Aftereffect

Wait for the drawing to fully load. The drawing is animated. Focus on a point in the center. After 20 seconds you will see the next frame - a color photograph of the mountains. The photo is actually black and white though. And, what was the first frame - a negative mask, the image of which remained in the memory of your retina.

colored city

Visual (optical) illusions / Aftereffect

By focusing on the red dot, you can colorize a black and white city.

What lines do you prefer?

Visual (optical) illusions / Aftereffect

Look at the left picture for a while, and then turn your attention to the right one. What lines will you see - horizontal or vertical?

colored rose

Visual (optical) illusions / Aftereffect

If you focus on the left picture, and then look at the right one, you will see that the black and white rose has become colored.

colored rainbow

Visual (optical) illusions / Aftereffect

In the same way, you can color the rainbow.

Disappearing Spots

Visual (optical) illusions / Aftereffect

You see a circle of blue-violet spots that disappear in turn, as if moving in a circle. Direct your gaze to the crosshairs in the center, while watching with peripheral vision as the spots disappear. If you do everything right, you will see that a green spot is moving in a circle. Do not look away, and after a while the purple spots will disappear completely, and only the green running in a circle will remain!

vanishing stars

Visual (optical) illusions / Aftereffect

If you look at the moon for a long time, the stars will disappear.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Popcorn as an alternative to Styrofoam 27.11.2021

Styrofoam is a problematic material as it is cheap and lightweight, but is not biodegradable and difficult to recycle. However, German scientists have developed a possible alternative - popcorn foam.

Alireza Harazipour, a professor at George August University, first came up with the idea more than a decade ago when he bought a bag of popcorn at a movie theater. Since then, his team has developed a method to use this material as an inexpensive, biodegradable, renewable alternative to Styrofoam.

The manufacturing process begins with the mechanical crushing of corn kernels into granules and then expanding them with pressurized steam (or "explosion"). The vegetable protein binder is mixed with the expanded granules, after which the mixture is pressed into a mould. Once the binder has hardened, the resulting sheet, block, or other object is removed from the mold and is ready for use.

According to the university, the foam absorbs heat better than Styrofoam, is less flammable, and can be composted, shredded for reuse, and used for biogas production or as animal feed. In addition, along with corn grains, corn industry waste, such as broken cobs, can be used in its production.

The technology has recently been licensed to Germany's Bachl Group, which will commercialize it for use in building insulation. Other potential uses for this material include protective or insulating packaging, sports equipment components, and lightweight automotive parts.
