ENCYCLOPEDIA OF RADIO ELECTRONICS AND ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING Animated drawings on the LED matrix. Encyclopedia of radio electronics and electrical engineering Encyclopedia of radio electronics and electrical engineering / Beginner radio amateur All kinds of lighting effects have taken on a new quality level due to the low price and availability of microcontrollers (MC), but their use requires additional equipment and a certain level of knowledge. There is only one inconvenience: there is no possibility to quickly change the control program itself. But if you use the MK in a DIP package, then it is enough to install a socket for the microcircuit in a convenient place on the board, and you can easily remove the MK for replacement. The proposed device (Fig. 1) is designed to display animated drawings on a 6x5 LED field. Animated drawings are stored in the memory of MK АТ89С2051. The appearance and number of effects are determined by the free memory of the MK. According to a given program, the MK can display pre-programmed patterns (static and dynamic). The image of letters is also possible, but, as verified experimentally, the words made up of them are difficult to read. A similar device can be assembled from the "Master KIT NM5101" kit with a 7x7 matrix [1], but I did it on a cheaper MK. To flash its Flash memory, you can use a programmer without electronic components [2]. The device can use LEDs of any type and color without limiting resistors. It is allowed to connect them in series in pairs, because the function of limiting the current at the level of 20 mA is successfully performed by the internal buffers of the MK. The main thing is that the LEDs are designed for long-term operation at this current. Given the pulse mode of operation of the LEDs, this is not so difficult. The low load capacity of the I/O ports at a high signal level makes it impossible to do without transistor switches VT1...VT5. The master oscillator is made on the chip DD1. The appearance of the device is shown in Fig.2. Structurally, the MK is placed on the front side for the convenience of debugging the program and removing it from the socket during reprogramming. The used MK is also remarkable in that it allows soldering the leads with a 220 V soldering iron without any precautions (I never had problems with it) [3]. The device is powered by an unstabilized power supply "Electronics D2-10M", designed for calculators. The MK program, shown in the table, from the 17th line contains the data that form the pattern. When flashing the memory of the MK, it is necessary to expand the listing with another repeating block, starting from line 17 to the end of the listing, or independently expand the data area at your discretion. The program does not provide images of objects. Animation of points, lines, triangles, squares in various combinations is in progress, for example, dot filling of the entire matrix with a glow from one corner to another, etc. Literature
