Eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil
Bible
Phraseologism: Eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
Meaning: Acquire knowledge, comprehend the meaning of various phenomena.
Origin: An expression from the biblical paradise tree of the knowledge of good and evil, the fruits of which Adam was forbidden by God to eat on pain of death. But the tempting serpent convinced Eve that those who ate the fruit of this tree would not die, but would be "like gods, knowing good and evil." Eve broke the taboo and encouraged Adam to do the same. For disobedience to God, they were expelled from paradise (Genesis, 3).
Random phraseology:
Politics is the art of the possible.
Meaning:
An effective policy deals only with reality, with achievable goals, and everything that lies beyond the bounds of the possible (real) is not politics, these are good wishes, empty declarations, etc.
Origin:
The original source is an interview with the "Iron Chancellor" of Prussia (later Germany) Otto Eduard Leopold Bismarck (1815-1898), which he gave (August, 1867) to the "Petersburg newspaper", published in St. Petersburg in German. In the original: "Politics is the doctrine of the possible." Then "teaching" turned into "art", and in this form the phrase became widely known. |

Artificial leather for touch emulation
15.04.2024
In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

14.04.2024
The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>
Random news from the Archive Exynos 9820 processor from Samsung
14.11.2018
Samsung has unveiled its new flagship Exynos 9820 processor, which will be the heart of the next generation of the top-end smartphone Galaxy S10. The chip is manufactured using an 8nm LPP FinFET process. According to the developers, this saves 10% of energy compared to products based on a 10-nanometer process.
A three-cluster architecture with six fourth-generation cores was implemented: two specialized, two productive Cortex A75 and four energy-efficient Cortex A55. Chip performance increased by 20% in single-core mode and 15% in multi-core mode.
Overall productivity increased by 40%. The chip is equipped with a Mali-G76 MP12 GPU, also providing 40% more performance. For the first time, Exynos has received a Neural Processing Unit (NPU) that works with artificial intelligence functions seven times more efficiently than its predecessor.
