According to Yazami, since the introduction of lithium-ion batteries in 1991, their specific capacity increased steadily until 2015 or 2016, when it plateaued. At the moment, there are no batteries with a capacity higher than 290 Wh per kilogram - at least commercial options. Another problem is the risk of battery fire. According to Dr. Yazami, although it is impossible to prevent such incidents, many cases can be predicted weeks or even months in advance, after which the owner himself can decide whether he needs to service or replace the battery altogether.
