Phraseologism: Chizhik-fawn, where have you been?

Meaning: A symbol of a primitive, unpretentious melody, which is usually played by people who are not familiar with musical notation and practically do not own the instrument.

Origin: From a city folk song, presumably born in St. Petersburg at the beginning of the XNUMXth century. and having multiple text options. The most popular of them: "Chizhik-pyzhik, where have you been? // I drank vodka on the Fontanka. // I drank a glass, drank two - // Noisy in my head. // Siskin-pyzhik after drinking // I drank water from the Fontanka, / / Pumped out this bird // Only in the Botkin hospital". The expression has an indirect relation to the chizhu bird. In fact, we are talking about students of the St. Petersburg School of Law at the beginning of the XNUMXth century. They, as was customary in the educational institutions of pre-revolutionary Russia, were also assigned their own uniform, but in bright colors - green and yellow. For this reason, students of other metropolitan institutions teased future lawyers with "chizhiks", since such colors are typical for the color of this bird. And to make the "teaser" behind the scenes, law students in it were not only likened to birds, but also accused of being addicted to strong drinks.
