Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Quiet New Fujitsu Celsius Workstations 07.10.2014

Fujitsu Corporation has introduced new high-performance, low-noise workstations to complement its wide range of systems manufactured in Germany. The new Celsius R940 and Celsius M740 are built with cutting-edge components including Xeon processors, DDR4 memory, and the latest AMD and Nvidia graphics.

According to the company, Fujitsu's proprietary 512GB PCIe SSDs built into workstations deliver twice the performance of today's third-party SSDs. Even at full load, the noise output is between 18 and 23 dB(A) - much quieter than the ambient noise of an open-plan office space.

The new Fujitsu workstations are optimally suited for computing-intensive tasks such as modeling large and complex datasets, as well as real-time visualization of 940D models, ensuring the required level of performance and data integrity. For example, the Celsius RXNUMX is a scalable dual-processor system that delivers the performance you need to run the most demanding, memory-intensive, multi-threaded applications, especially simulation, visualization, and rendering programs.

In turn, the Celsius M740 single processor solution, which meets the standards of the European Medical Center, is suitable for the healthcare industry. The system allows for easy expansion with tool-less cold-access chassis maintenance and quick-swap of up to eight hard drives.

Like almost all workstations from the Fujitsu Celsius line, the two new models can be operated around the clock and support high-performance graphics adapters and compute cards, as well as virtualization. Both systems support Windows Server 2012 and rack-mount capability for data center use, including secure PCoIP access. Fujitsu is offering additional accessories for its new workstations, including Fujitsu's P-line monitors with screen sizes up to 27 inches, as well as dedicated 3D SpaceMouse ergonomic mice.

The entire portfolio of Fujitsu Celsius mobile, desktop and rack workstations and accessories can be ordered directly from Fujitsu or purchased through a network of authorized resellers. Prices vary by region, model, and configuration.
