In the fight you will find your right

Rudolf von Yehring
Rudolf von Yehring

Phraseologism: In the struggle you will find your right.

Meaning: Encouraging someone to assert their legal rights (joking).

Origin: These words entered the history of the Russian language as the slogan of the Socialist-Revolutionary Party (Socialist-Revolutionary Party - from the abbreviation of that time "S.R."), which noisily declared itself in Russia at the beginning of the century with terrorist actions, "expropriations" (robbery) of government institutions to finance the "revolutionary struggle". The author of this motto is the outstanding German lawyer Rudolf von Yehring (1812-1890), who interpreted law as a legally protected practical interest of a person, that is, protected by legal means. But the Socialist-Revolutionaries interpreted this slogan in their own way and used it for purposes that had nothing to do with the meaning that their author put into these words.

Random phraseology:

A young man contemplating life.

Meaning:

Jokingly, as words preceding some advice, an appeal to a young man facing a choice of profession, a solution to a life conflict, etc.

Origin:

From the poem "Good!" (1927) by Vladimir Vladimirovich Mayakovsky (1893-1930): "To a young man who is thinking about life, // deciding to do life with whom, // I will say without hesitation - do it // with comrade Dzerzhinsky."

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

metal glue 02.06.2016

Scientists from the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems (Germany) have developed a unique adhesive whose adhesive properties can be adjusted.

The new glue, developed by German physicists, is not at all like the usual one. It is based on gallium, an unusual silver-colored metal that changes from solid to liquid at the temperature of the human body. These extraordinary properties of gallium have now been exploited to come up with a glue that can literally be "turned on" and "off" by simple heating or cooling.

Unlike hot melt adhesive, it is much easier to work with because gallium based adhesive requires much less heat to activate and does not require a hot glue gun. When cooled, the adhesive loses its adhesive properties and quickly peels off from any surface without leaving any marks on it. It is noteworthy that the metal adhesive works even on wet surfaces and under water, although with a slight decrease in adhesive qualities.

The developers claim that gallium-based glue has countless practical applications and will be an excellent replacement for a whole range of adhesives in the home, industry and even medicine.
