Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Memory module for smartphones UFS 4.0 1 TB 27.02.2024

Micron has announced the release of its smallest UFS 4.0 flash memory module, measuring just 9 by 13 millimeters. Memory capacity remains at 1 TB, and maximum read and write speeds reach 4300 and 4000 MB/s, respectively.

This module is intended for use in future flagship smartphones. It is based on 232-layer 3D NAND memory developed jointly by Micron laboratories in the US, China and Korea. This made it possible to free up additional space inside the case for installing more capacious batteries, which became a request from manufacturers.

Micron engineers managed to reduce the size of the UFS 4.0 chip by 20% compared to the previous 11 by 13 mm model, which was introduced in June last year. This allowed us to reduce power consumption without losing performance.

In addition, Micron introduced a new feature called HPM (High-Performance Mode), a patented technology that improves memory performance by 25% during intensive smartphone use.

Micron has already started shipping the first samples of UFS 4.0 to its major customers in three versions - 256 GB, 512 GB and 1 TB.

The first smartphones with Micron UFS 4.0 memory are expected to hit the market in the second half of 2024.
