Slavophilism

Aksakov I.S.
Aksakov I.S.

Phraseologism: Slavophilism.

Meaning: The doctrine of a special path, developing along which Russia is able to convey the Orthodox truth to European peoples who have fallen into heresy and atheism.

Origin: Popular, since the 1840s, designation of the circle of ideas of some Russian thinkers and writers. They, in contrast to their ideological opponents - "Westerners" (see Westernism), insisted on a "special path for Russia", believed that it should develop on its own spiritual basis, saw the ideal of the Russian state in Muscovite Russia, condemned Peter's reforms, imitation of the West, etc. The views of such thinkers as I. S. Aksakov, I. V. Kireevsky, A. S. Khomyakov and others are typical of Slavophilism. avoid. Thus, the publicist and public figure Alexander Koshelev (1806-1883) believed that it was much more appropriate to call him and his comrades "original people" or even "natives." But such terms did not catch on. For the first time the word "Slavophile" was used - in an ironic sense - to designate a certain social type by the poet Konstantin Nikolayevich Batyushkov (1787-1855). In his satire Vision on the Banks of the Lethe (1809), he depicts a pompous retrograde poet who stubbornly clings to outdated norms, rules and traditions of both the Russian language in general and poetic speech in particular. This hero speaks of himself in a "high calm", in Old Slavonic: "I am a Zelo Slavenophile" (that is, a great lover of everything Slavic). Later, this word (formed according to the type of "bibliophile" - a lover of books) went beyond the scope of literature itself and acquired a socio-political content. The concepts of "Slavophilism" and "Westernism" are arbitrary, since the Slavophiles were by no means always enthusiastic about this. what they considered their own, primordial, purely Russian, and the Westerners did not offer the Russians to adopt all, indiscriminately, Western experience. But they entered the Russian language as designations for two, sometimes opposite types of worldview.

Random phraseology:

The paper does not turn red. Paper will endure everything.

Origin:

These expressions go back to the Roman writer and orator Cicero (106-43 BC), in his letters "To friends" (5, 12, I) there is an expression: "Epistola non erubescit".

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Mellanox InfiniBand EDR 100Gbps Switch 26.06.2014

Mellanox introduced the world's first 100 Gb/s InfiniBand EDR switch. The novelty is part of the Switch-IB series.

According to the manufacturer, Switch-IB SB7700/SB7790 belongs to a new generation of InfiniBand switches optimized for use in supercomputers and data centers working with Web 2.0, databases and clouds. With 36 ports, each with a bandwidth of 100 Gb/s, the switch is the world's fastest, with 7,2 times its closest competitor in total switching capacity (130 Tb/s). The delay is also a record, not exceeding XNUMX ns.

The advantages of the switch also include low power consumption. It's also the first switch in its category to feature router features that provide full isolation and scalability to meet, as the press release puts it, "the growing needs of clusters with hundreds of thousands of nodes."

The device is configured with 144 parallel-to-serial and serial-to-parallel converters that can operate at speeds from 1 to 25 Gb / s per line, which corresponds to the delivery of up to 5,4 billion packets per second.

In addition to high performance, the switch has another important advantage - it allows you to programmatically and centrally manage connections between servers and storages, thereby significantly reducing operating costs.
