Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

5 GHz processor 14.06.2013

Already in the summer of 2013, AMD plans to ship the first desktop processor capable of operating at 5 GHz. AMD has unveiled the world's first 3GHz-capable personal computer processor, the AMD FX-5, at the E9590 gaming industry show in Los Angeles.

The AMD FX-9590, codenamed Vishera, is based on the Piledriver microprocessor architecture, which is the successor to the Bulldozer. The processor has 8 cores and is manufactured based on the 32nm process standard. The company did not disclose the technical characteristics of the processor, including its power consumption, however, as DailyTech explains, we are talking about the frequency in the Turbo Core technology activation mode, that is, in the overclocking mode. The approximate value of the base frequency is 4,5 GHz.

All processors in the AMD FX line support Turbo Core technology, but none of them is capable of operating at frequencies above 4,2 GHz. The power consumption (TDP) of the most powerful AMD FX processors in existence is 125W.
The new chip, like other processors in the family, is designed for gamers and enthusiasts. AMD plans to start shipping it in the summer of 2013.

In addition to AMD FX-9590, the company introduced the FX-9370 model with support for 4,7 GHz. It is also based on the Piledriver architecture, has 8 cores and is manufactured on the basis of the 32nm norm. Both processors support overclocking, that is, the clock frequency at which they are able to operate can be increased.

AMD's success story includes first breaking the 1 GHz milestone in 2000, as well as the release of the first true 2- and 4-core processors (all cores on a single die) and the release of the first APU (central and graphics cores on a single die) . Now AMD does not own production facilities, but is only engaged in design activities. In 2009, the company's factories were spun off into Globalfoundries, a joint venture with Arab investment company ATIC. Globalfoundries, among other things, manufactures AMD processors.
