Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. Ultra-bright, high-performance Toshiba white LEDs 26.02.2015

Toshiba Electronics Europe has launched a new series of high power LEDs ideal for commercial and industrial lighting applications. The TL1L4 series offers improved devices compared to the previous series.

The new TL1L4 series produces a high luminous flux, the value of which at room temperature (CCT=5000 K, Ra=70, @IF=350 mA) exceeds 160 lm, which is 60% more than that of the TL1L3 series and is (according to Toshiba research February 4, 2014) leading value in the industry. Under conditions of Ta = 85 C, the operating current can reach 1 A. This improves the light output and reduces power consumption in LED devices.

Gallium nitride on silicon (GaN-on-Si) technologies are used to create energy-efficient and high-performance LEDs of the TL1L4 series. The diodes are available in nine color temperatures ranging from 2700K to 6500K.

The devices are housed in a compact 3,5mm x 3,5mm package and are capable of delivering a maximum forward voltage of 1,5A at Ta<55C and Tj<150C. The LEDs are tested for binning, electrical and optical performance at 85C and IF=350 mA, which simulates real working conditions.
