Ordinary miracle

Schwartz E.L.
Schwartz E.L.

Phraseologism: An ordinary miracle.

Meaning: About something unlikely (long-awaited), which nevertheless became a fact, a reality. An analogue of the obvious - the incredible (jokingly ironic).

Origin: The title of a fairy tale play (1956) by the Soviet playwright Yevgeny Lvovich Schwartz (1896-1958). The play became especially popular after its adaptation (directed by Mark Zakharov). E. L. Schwartz himself wrote about the meaning of this expression in the prologue of his play: "An ordinary miracle" - what a strange name! If a miracle means extraordinary! And if ordinary - therefore, not a miracle. The answer is that we are talking about love. A boy and a girl fall in love with each other - which is common. Quarreling - which is also not uncommon. Almost die of love. And finally, the strength of their feelings reaches such a height that it begins to work real miracles - which is both surprising and usual.

Random phraseology:

Super task.

Meaning:

The highest goal to be achieved.

Origin:

The author of the expression is one of the founders of the Moscow Art Theater, director Konstantin Sergeevich Stanislavsky (1863-1938). He explained the essence of this term in his book The Actor's Work on Himself (Ch. XV).

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Sensor from any surface 07.01.2020

Sensel introduced a new technology. In fact, it allows you to touch any surface, including smartphones.

The demo used a thin film that contains about 25 sensors. By installing sensors under curved glass, you can make the edges of smartphones touchable. The sensors are highly sensitive. It recognizes a range from less than one gram to 5 kg at each contact point, for a total of up to 10 points.

Such impressive accuracy allows you to create many different scenarios for the behavior of the interface.

The technology distinguishes between when the user simply holds the smartphone in his hands, and when he intentionally squeezes the surface. Sensors recognize the type of capture, which means that such control buttons (volume, power) can be easily switched from the right side to the left.

The booth demonstrated, among other things, shooting control on a smartphone. The user can release the shutter, press the "button" halfway to focus, and long press to take a series of shots.

The technology is not limited to smartphones. The sensors can be embedded on any surface, including wood and leather. This extends the use to furniture, peripherals, automobiles, and so on.
