Phraseologism: To freedom - with a clear conscience.

Meaning: About redemption and reeducation.

Origin: A slogan popular in the 1930s. in Soviet labor camps as one of the elements of visual agitation.

Random phraseology:

Meaning:

The phrase is a symbol of a consumer attitude towards a person who was first cynically used for any purpose, and then, instead of gratitude, turned away from him.

Origin:

From German: Der Mohr hat seine Schuldigkeit getan, der Mohr kann gehen. Sometimes these words are erroneously attributed to the Venetian Moor Othello, the protagonist of W. Shakespeare's play "Othello". In fact, this phrase is from the play (act. 3, yavl. 4) "The Fiesco Conspiracy in Genoa" (1783) by the German poet Johann Friedrich Schiller (1759-1805). Russian translation (1804) by Nikolai Ivanovich Gnedich (1784-1833). This phrase is uttered by one of the characters in the play - the Moor - after he helped Count Fiesco organize an uprising against Doge Doria, the tyrant of Genoa, and soon discovered that the conspirators no longer needed him, that they saw in him only a tool to achieve their goals. Schiller's play is based on real events in Genoa in 1547.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Durable memory polymer 16.02.2016

Scientists from the University of Rochester in the United States, led by Mitch Anthamatten, have developed a material that, changing shape when heated and returning to its original position when cooled, is capable of lifting loads a thousand times its own weight. In this case, it is enough to heat the polymer from room temperature to 35 degrees Celsius, that is, human temperature.

When heated, the polymer chains stretch and form highly ordered structures. Their number is gradually growing, and the material takes on a new form. At the same time, chemists have learned to adjust the polymer to the desired working temperature through various additives. Scientists have worked on the chemical composition of the material so that it becomes as elastic as possible, which means it can accumulate a lot of potential energy and lift loads that are much larger than its own weight. The researchers give an example: a rubber band the size of a shoelace, weighing 1 gram, can thus lift a liter bottle of soda.

"Our polymer is like a rubber belt, which, when stretched, is fixed in a certain shape. But it is enough to touch it, and it will return to its original shape," the head of the study explained.

Scientists suggest that such a unique polymer will be useful in many areas. For example, as threads for extra strong seams, for the manufacture of artificial leather, medical dispensers that react to body temperature, and so on.
