Peace on earth, goodwill towards men

Bible
Bible

Phraseologism: Peace on earth, goodwill towards men.

Meaning: About a feeling of deep satisfaction, contentment with oneself, relationships with others, etc.

Origin: From the Bible (Church Slavonic text). New Testament (Gospel of Luke, 2:14) (translated into Russian): "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men." With these words, the heavenly host led by an angel announces to the shepherds about the birth of Jesus Christ. Usually this phrase is used in this way, in the Church Slavonic version, jokingly ironically.

Random phraseology:

The expulsion of merchants from the temple.

Meaning:

Expel from somewhere those who are unworthy (or should not by law) be there.

Origin:

From the Bible. All four gospels (Matthew 21:12; Mark 11:15; Luke 19:45; John 2:14-15) tell how Jesus came to the temple one day in Jerusalem and saw a crowd of people selling and buying cattle for sacrifices, as well as many money changers. Then he wove a scourge out of the ropes and drove out all the merchants from the temple, so that no one would desecrate the temple either by trading or monetary settlements.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>
