Meaning: About a limited, stubborn person.

Origin: From the Bible. In the Old Testament, in the Book of the prophet Isaiah, it is said about pagans, about idolaters (ch. 48, v. 4): "I knew that you were stubborn, and that there were iron veins in your neck, and your forehead was copper."

In this poem, the poet speaks of Stalin as a "Kremlin highlander" who delights in executions and "services of semi-humans": "We live without smelling the country under us, // Our speeches are not heard in ten steps, // And where is enough for half a conversation , // They will remember the Kremlin mountaineer there ... Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Quantum microscope sees tiny changes in atoms 05.05.2022

Physicists at the University of California, Irvine have demonstrated the use of a hydrogen molecule as a quantum sensor in a scanning tunneling microscope (STM) equipped with a terahertz laser that can measure the chemical properties of materials with unprecedented resolution.

This new technique could also be applied to the analysis of XNUMXD materials that could potentially play a role in advanced energy systems, electronics and quantum computers.

Researchers from the Department of Physics and Astronomy and the Department of Chemistry at UCI described how they placed two bonded hydrogen atoms between an STM silver tip and a sample consisting of a flat copper surface with small islands of copper nitride.

Using laser pulses of trillionths of a second in duration, scientists were able to excite a hydrogen molecule and detect changes in its quantum states at cryogenic temperatures and in the ultra-high vacuum of the instrument, creating images of an atom-scale sample.
