Kosmeya. Legends, myths, history

Cosmey

The most cosmic flower, of course, is kosmeya. This is a genus of herbaceous annuals and perennials, which belongs to the Astrov family. In the world, cosmea is also called the Mexican aster and cosmos. In fact, the name of the flower comes from the Greek word "kosmeo", which means "decoration". And this is indeed a very elegant plant with bright flowers.

In nature, kosmeya is found in the subtropics of Mexico and South America. Several species are distributed throughout the world as ornamental garden plants. The most famous species in culture - double-feathered cosmea and gray-yellow cosmea - are grown in Russia. This is an unpretentious plant that does not require special care and reproduces well. The vibrant flowers look great in natural-style flower beds, front gardens, and even garden beds. Pollinating insects are very fond of cosmea, so it is often planted next to vegetable crops that require pollination.

Cosmey

There is also a legend about cosmos, which is characteristic, not Greek, but sad.

When the stars were like people in the vastness of the Universe, there lived a beautiful girl - slender and blond. Kosmeya's large eyes shone with an unusual light and changed color according to the beauty's mood.

Beauty fell in love with Cosmos - the ruler of all the stars. The girl reciprocated and it was the strongest love in the universe, beyond boundaries and time. But the majestic Cosmos was unstable and easily carried away by other stars.

Kosmeya suffered greatly from the infidelity of her lover, and one day her heart could not stand it and broke into many small fragments that scattered throughout the universe. Where the fragments fell, flowers of different colors grew, possessing the magical aroma of love. The legend says - if a person breathes in and feels the wonderful aroma of cosmos flowers, then he will look for his love all over the Earth. And the lonely Cosmos is still looking for Cosmeus among other worlds and galaxies. Sad but instructive.

cultivated and wild plants. Legends, myths, symbolism, description, cultivation, methods of application

Cosmea is a genus of annual plants in the Asteraceae family native to Central and South America.

Tips for growing, harvesting and storing cosmea:

Cultivation:

  • Kosmeya prefers a sunny place and fertile, well-drained soil. It can be grown both outdoors and in containers.
  • Planting should be done in the spring when the soil is warm enough. The distance between plants should be approximately 30-45 cm.
  • Plants need to be watered and fertilized regularly. Make sure the soil always remains moist, but not oversaturated with water.
  • The kosmeya blooms from July to October and can attract a variety of insects, including bees and butterflies.

Workpiece:

  • Cosmos flowers can be used to decorate bouquets or to create dry arrangements.
  • To preserve the freshness of flowers and lengthen their life, cut the flowers when they have not yet fully opened and place them in cool water. They can then be used to create bouquets or other arrangements.
  • To create dry compositions, you should collect the flowers at the moment when they are fully opened, and hang them in a dark and cool place until completely dry.

Storage:

  • Freshly cut cosmea flowers can be stored in a vase with water for up to 7 days.
  • For long-term storage of dried flowers, pack them in tightly closed containers and store them in a cool and dry place.

Alcohol content of warm beer 07.05.2024

Beer, as one of the most common alcoholic drinks, has its own unique taste, which can change depending on the temperature of consumption. A new study by an international team of scientists has found that beer temperature has a significant impact on the perception of alcoholic taste. The study, led by materials scientist Lei Jiang, found that at different temperatures, ethanol and water molecules form different types of clusters, which affects the perception of alcoholic taste. At low temperatures, more pyramid-like clusters form, which reduces the pungency of the "ethanol" taste and makes the drink taste less alcoholic. On the contrary, as the temperature increases, the clusters become more chain-like, resulting in a more pronounced alcoholic taste. This explains why the taste of some alcoholic drinks, such as baijiu, can change depending on temperature. The data obtained opens up new prospects for beverage manufacturers, ... >>

Major risk factor for gambling addiction 07.05.2024

Computer games are becoming an increasingly popular form of entertainment among teenagers, but the associated risk of gaming addiction remains a significant problem. American scientists conducted a study to determine the main factors contributing to this addiction and offer recommendations for its prevention. Over the course of six years, 385 teenagers were followed to find out what factors may predispose them to gambling addiction. The results showed that 90% of study participants were not at risk of addiction, while 10% became gambling addicts. It turned out that the key factor in the onset of gambling addiction is a low level of prosocial behavior. Teenagers with a low level of prosocial behavior do not show interest in the help and support of others, which can lead to a loss of contact with the real world and a deepening dependence on virtual reality offered by computer games. Based on these results, scientists ... >>

Traffic noise delays the growth of chicks 06.05.2024

The sounds that surround us in modern cities are becoming increasingly piercing. However, few people think about how this noise affects the animal world, especially such delicate creatures as chicks that have not yet hatched from their eggs. Recent research is shedding light on this issue, indicating serious consequences for their development and survival. Scientists have found that exposure of zebra diamondback chicks to traffic noise can cause serious disruption to their development. Experiments have shown that noise pollution can significantly delay their hatching, and those chicks that do emerge face a number of health-promoting problems. The researchers also found that the negative effects of noise pollution extend into the adult birds. Reduced chances of reproduction and decreased fertility indicate the long-term effects that traffic noise has on wildlife. The study results highlight the need ... >>

3,2 gigapixel camera for astronomers 06.05.2012

The US Department of Energy has approved the construction of the world's largest digital camera.
The digital camera for the LSST telescope will have 3.2 billion pixels and will provide astronomers with an unprecedented deep, clear and wide view of the night sky. Such an instrument has never been created, and scientists are looking forward to its completion.

The construction of the most "sighted" telescope will begin in 2014. Preliminary work on its manufacture began in 2008 - with the manufacture of the primary 8,4-m mirror.

The LSST Large Survey Telescope will survey the entire visible sky every week, creating an unprecedented database of about 6 million gigabytes per year. This is equivalent to about 800 shots a day with a typical 8-megapixel camera. Of course, the unique LSST digital camera will be able to take much better photographs, which will help answer important questions about the nature of dark matter and dark energy, explore near-Earth asteroids, Kuiper belt objects, the structure of our Galaxy, create three-dimensional space maps and perform a host of other observations needed. in other areas of astronomy and fundamental physics.

Interestingly, the LSST data will be published in the public domain, which will allow astronomers from any corner of our planet to study objects of interest to them. This should multiply the "useful output" of scientific discoveries and, for example, study rapidly changing objects, analyze their behavior and characteristics.
