Origin: From Latin: Cunctator - Slower. The nickname (from the verb cunctare - to delay) of the Roman commander Fabius Maximus (III century BC), who, in the war with the Carthaginian commander Hannibal, used the tactics of evading decisive battles: without entering into major battles, he continuously disturbed and harassed the enemy, for which he received this nickname. His tactics (kunktatorstvo) fully justified themselves. In Russia, this was the name given to Field Marshal M.I.
