Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Samsung Embedded Smart Home Appliances 11.10.2016

The concept of a smart home in its full implementation is the near future, which is slowly coming now. Already today, if desired, most of the equipment can be configured so that all of it is controlled through a single hub from a smartphone.

Still, the choice of such technology is not very large. Especially when it comes to smart home appliances. Even more difficult when it comes to embedded. Samsung has introduced a new line of such devices, which will be available for purchase from November. The new range includes gas, electric and induction hobs, extractor hoods, ovens, dishwashers and lighting fixtures.

All new items are equipped with Wi-Fi modules, which allows you to control them either directly from your smartphone, or first connect to a hub. The devices are also equipped with Bluetooth modules and are able to exchange data with each other. This allows, for example, to set the hood to turn on automatically or only to illuminate it when the hob is activated.

Ovens start at $2200, a gas hob costs at least $1200, an induction hob costs at least $2100, and an electric one starts at $1100.
