Camo is coming?

Bible
Bible

Phraseologism: Camo is coming?

Meaning: In what direction are you moving, developing? (archaic bookish or joke).

Origin: An expression from the Church Slavonic text of the Bible, where the phrase literally means "Where are you going?". Also quoted in Latin: "Quo vadis?" The turnover gained fame thanks to the name of the Russian translation of the novel by the Polish writer G. Sienkiewicz (1894-1896).

Random phraseology:

Put up a cross.

Meaning:

Refuse to do something or expect an event.

Origin:

The caste of officials, bureaucrats, paper-scribblers is as indestructible as the state itself. Soldiers and marshals fight, and officials then imperceptibly, on the sly, appropriate the fruits of their military victories. Papers tend to accumulate like parasites. Famusov from A.S. Griboedov's comedy "Woe from Wit" had the following custom: "signed - so off with your shoulders." And the usual stationery "rats", so as not to drown in a pile of papers, in order to separate the already worked out from those that have yet to be studied, marked the first with a bold cross. And this is without any religious hint or subtext! It just made it easier for them to understand. And when we decide to "tie up" with some hopeless case, we also say that we put an end to it - only in a figurative sense and without any written notes.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. On the issue of transgenic products 05.12.2004

There is an ongoing debate in scientific labs and in the press about whether genetically modified foods are harmful to health.

The first concrete data indicating that such products still have some unusual effect on the body were obtained by biologists from the University of Urbino (Italy). They fed a group of mice genetically modified soybeans, from plants genetically engineered to be immune to insect pests, while a control group received common soybeans.

Then the experimenters studied the liver of mice - this organ is one of the first to react to the intake of harmful substances. It turned out that in those mice that received genetically modified soy, the nuclei in the liver cells acquired an irregular shape.

In addition, the number of microfibrils in cells increased - microscopic fibers consisting of protein molecules. Both signs indicate an increase in metabolism in the liver, but what is the mechanism of this increase and how dangerous this phenomenon is, is not yet known.
