Focus Description:

In your hands is a light metal ball. Put it on the table. Take a handkerchief from the table and cover the ball with it. At the same time, the ends of the scarf hang from the table. Begin to pass by passing your right and left hands alternately over the ball.

The ball covered with a scarf will rise up from the table. Another second - and he will be in the air above the table. With your hands close to the ends of the scarf hanging from the ball, lead your hands after the ball. The ball will then fall down, then rise up, move to the right, then to the left, and suddenly rush up again so rapidly that you even have to make some effort, holding the ball by the ends of the handkerchief. Then the ball will again begin to slowly descend to the table from where it began its flight.

Focus secret:

The figure shows that a bracket made of thin sheet aluminum with a width of at least 1 cm is attached to the ball and bent at a right angle. The end of the pin made of aluminum wire is inserted into this bracket. The angle keeps the ball in one place and prevents it from falling down the pin. At the other end of the font is attached a small tube made in the form of a thimble, 4 cm long and with a diameter equal to the circumference of the middle finger of the left hand, painted with body paint to match the color of the finger.

Focus Flying ball

The ball itself consists of two hemispheres extruded from thin aluminum, which are glued to each other. Its diameter must be at least 15 cm. The ball is covered with bronze powder diluted with enamel.

The ball is placed on the table so that the bracket is not visible to the audience and it is easy to insert a pin into it, which is imperceptibly placed on the table in advance in a convenient place. The thimble of the pin should be turned to the left, because it will need to be put on the middle finger of the left hand. With the help of this pin, the ball makes a wonderful "flight".

Slowly covering the ball with a handkerchief, straightening the folds, discreetly insert the pin into the bracket and begin to make "magic" passes with both hands. Then gradually move to the passes with one right hand, and at this time bring the left under the handkerchief and put the thimble on the middle finger. Continuing the passes with your right hand, with your left start to slowly lift the ball up.

When moving, the scarf inflates beautifully, creating a complete illusion of free flight of the ball. Hold your right hand slightly below the handkerchief, the ends of the fingers of the left hand are under the handkerchief. Make rapid upward movements, lightly grabbing the ends of the handkerchief with your right hand, as if you were struggling to hold a strongly tearing ball.

In this case, you should constantly change the position of the body and not stand to the audience only with your right side. Finishing the demonstration, lower the ball on the table, quickly and discreetly remove the pin, placing it under cover on the table or on a special sideboard. Despite its apparent simplicity, the trick is quite complex and requires careful practice in front of a mirror in order to achieve beautiful plastic movements that are in harmony with the flight of the ball.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

The world's first solar road 23.12.2016

In a small town in Normandy (a region in northwestern France), the world's first highway, the surface of which is paved with solar panels, has opened.

The applied technology is called Wattway. The experimental section of the road has a length of 1 km, and the total area of solar panels is 2800 m2.

The canvas has a special coating that protects the batteries from destruction and at the same time provides good grip for vehicles. It is expected that about 2000 cars will pass on the unusual road every day.

An estimated 280 MWh of solar power could be generated per year from solar panels. It can be used, say, to illuminate city streets at night.

In the next two years, the experimental site will undergo extensive testing. It is noted that the implementation of the project cost approximately 5 million euros.
