EFFECTIVE FOCUSES AND THEIR CLUES Card chain. Focus Secret Directory / Spectacular tricks and their clues Focus Description: As if to check, the performer opens the deck with a small fan. Then, folding again, he takes it along the edges by the middle with two fingers of his left hand (middle and large). With his right hand he gradually pulls down the first card. Here it is almost at the bottom edge of the second card. At this time, the performer releases his hand, but the card does not fall. He continues to pull this card down again. Along with it, the second card began to move. Having reached the bottom edge of the third card, the second carried it along with it, forming a chain of three cards holding tightly to one another. Then the performer drew again, and the third card was followed by the fourth, fifth, sixth, and so on until the last one in the deck. Then the performer releases the first card. Now it is at the very bottom of the resulting card ribbon. The performer holds the tape with one hand by the top card, and the cards in the tape hang without scattering (Fig. 79, A). The cards in this strip seem to be glued together. But the performer creates a wide variety of figures from it.
First, holding the top and bottom cards, he turns the tape to a horizontal position. Then the tape takes the shape of the letter "L". But in the hands of a magician, she took the form of a circle, then arcs, etc. The most interesting thing is that the cards in the tape do not crumble, but, obeying the hands of the performer, hold tightly to each other. Spectators think that the cards are somehow held together. But the performer finishes demonstrating the figures, and the card tape hangs in his hand again, taking its original position. Then, by moving his right hand from bottom to top, the performer collects the cards into a deck. And then something completely unexpected happens. Starting with the top card, he discards them one by one to the floor. The entire deck was scattered on the floor: the cards were not glued together. Focus secret: This trick does not require a large number of cards. It is enough to take 12-15 cards and 1-2 small sheets of transparent dense cellophane, which is usually used to paste over chocolate candy sets. 15 strips 8 cm long, 1 cm wide and 15 strips 4,5 cm long and 7 mm wide are cut from it. At the bottom of each card, across the width from one corner to the other, two millimeters away from the edge, smaller strips are glued. Ordinary glue does not hold cellophane well, so it is better to glue it with adhesive tape. The strips are attached only at the corners, and the middle remains free. The strips are located on the side of the "picture", forming transparent crossbars invisible to the audience (Fig. 79, B). These crossbars are the first secret detail of the trick. The second secret detail is other eight-centimeter strip blanks. They are glued on the back of the cards, located vertically along the middle. Only the upper part of the strip is glued, departing from the top edge of the card by 2 mm. And the lower part remains hanging freely. When finished, this map looks like a frame with a stand (Fig. 79, D). It should be noted that the bottom card in the chain has only one vertical secret strip on the reverse side, because it will be the initial one in the deck, and its front side must be clean. The top card in the chain - it is also the last in the deck - should only be with a horizontal crossbar on the front side. Before demonstrating the trick, a card is taken with one horizontal secret bar, which should be the top one in the chain. The next card is placed on it so that the free end of its secret vertical bar enters the horizontal bar of the first card. All subsequent cards are arranged in the same order. The last card to be placed is one with one secret vertical crossbar. This deck can be placed in your pocket or on the illusion table in advance. Having started demonstrating the trick, the performer takes the cards and opens them in a fan, but not wide. If you open the cards wide, the secret crossbars will come out of their places. Having closed the fan, the magician brings the cards to the desired position, then starts demonstrating the card tape by pulling down the first top card. All those who follow will follow her. The vertical secret bars of each card will go deeper into each horizontal one and form a single card chain. When all the cards up to the last one are connected into a tape, any figures can be made from it. Having finished demonstrating the figures, the performer folds the cards into a single deck and imperceptibly turns them upside down. And then, with sliding movements of the index finger, he quickly discards all the cards one at a time on the floor or on an illusion table.
