Focus Scarf Zebra

Props:

1. A scarf 60x60 cm made of striped fabric, preferably black and white.

2. A narrow wooden plank 30 cm long.

Secret of focus

The secret of the trick lies in a wooden plank, which is previously sewn into the edge of one of the sides of the scarf.

During the demonstration of the trick, the performer holds the handkerchief by the upper corners. In this position, the secret bar is in a vertical position at the bottom left. When swinging, the performer grabs the scarf with the right hand around the corner with the bar, simultaneously releasing the other corner of the scarf - the strips instantly move to a vertical position.

The effect of focus depends on the speed and dexterity of the performer and requires careful training.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Editing of human embryos for the first time 27.07.2017

Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU) in Portland is the first in the United States to use technology that allows you to change genes in a human embryo.

The research involved modifying DNA in a large number of single-celled embryos using CRISPR gene-editing technology.

Although none of the embryos were allowed to develop for more than a few days - and there was never any intention of implanting them in the uterus - the experiments are a milestone in what may be the inevitable path to the birth of the first genetically engineered human.

By changing the DNA code of human embryos, scientists can remove or fix genes that cause hereditary diseases such as beta thalassemia. This process is called "germ-line engineering" because any genetically modified child will then pass the changes on to subsequent generations through their own germ cells.
