EFFECTIVE FOCUSES AND THEIR CLUES Mysterious pelvis. Focus Secret Directory / Spectacular tricks and their clues Focus Description: The artist needs to wash his hands, he asks to bring him a basin and water. An assistant comes out from behind the scenes, carrying a large basin on a tray (Fig. 237), the second assistant carries a jug of water and a towel.
A basin is brought to the magician, and he washes his hands over it. After washing his hands, he pours the remaining water from the jug into the basin. He takes a towel, wipes his hands, then covers the basin with the towel and, lifting it from the tray, carries it into the auditorium (Fig. 238).
On the way to the auditorium, the magician stumbles slightly and some water spills from the basin onto the floor. The artist throws up the basin along with the towel with a sharp movement. The towel falls to the floor (Fig. 239), and the basin disappears in some unknown way.

The tray is made with a double bottom to allow water from the basin to drain into it. The tray should be slightly larger than the diameter of the upper edge of the basin. Let’s say, if the diameter of the pelvis is 35 cm, then the tray should be 40-45 cm wide and of the appropriate length. A hole is made in the basin for water drainage, into which a small tube is soldered. This tube will need to fit into the tray. A small pin is soldered to the tube, which holds the basin in the tray and prevents it from falling out, even if the basin is upside down. In order for water from the basin to flow well into the tray, a small hole is made at the edge of the tray, which is held with the right hand, for air to escape. It is best to attach two handles to the tray and hold it by them. Double towel. Inside it is a circle-shaped frame made of soft insulated wire. The frame should be equal to the diameter of the upper edge of the pelvis. The water jug is the most ordinary, of sufficient capacity. Rubber fingertips are filled with water and tied with thread. You need to pour at least a quarter glass of water into the fingertip. Demonstration and preparation of focus: Backstage, a fingertip filled with water is placed on a tray under the cover of the pelvis. The circle sewn into the towel is carefully aligned. When the assistant brings out the towel, he must hold it so that the audience does not notice that there is something in the towel. Water is poured into the jug to the brim. Then the following happens. An assistant brings out a tray with a basin, holding it at waist level. The magician washes his hands and pours the remaining water into a basin. He then wipes his hands with the end of the towel, after which he quickly covers the basin with it, making sure that the entire basin is covered. Then with his left hand the artist takes the edge of the circle on top of the towel, and puts his right hand under the towel and, under its cover with the little finger, middle and ring fingers, takes the fingertip and, pressing it to the palm, holds it, and with the index and thumb supports the circle in the towel from below, creating the impression that he is lifting the pelvis covered with a towel. The assistant at this time turns the basin with the tray bottom towards the audience (see Fig. 238). The magician, taking a “basin” (actually just a towel with a circle sewn into it and a fingertip filled with water), goes to the audience, and the assistant quietly goes backstage, taking away the tray with the basin. The magician, having stumbled, presses the fingertip with water in his hand, and the water spills onto the floor. Throwing the towel up, the magician quickly crumples a circle in his hands. The towel falls to the floor, picking it up, the magician returns to the stage. We invite amateurs to improve the design of this device. You can make sure that water poured into a basin is kept there until the right moment, and then drained into a tray. This will make it possible, after filling a basin full of water, to splash water from it with your hand, proving that the basin is full, and then drain the water into the tray. Instead of a wire circle, you can make a circle from an alarm clock spring. Such a circle can be made to roll up at the right time, and it will be easy to hide in your hand. In this case, the towel can be given to spectators for inspection. This, of course, will increase interest in the issue. You can also design an easily folding basin that fits into a tray. Then the tray will not need to be turned over towards the audience during the day. Author: Vadimov A.A.
