Focus Description:

On a small table stands a burning electric light bulb under a lampshade. The magician takes a cigar out of his pocket and takes a cigar. Having cut off its end, he wants to smoke and looks for matches, but does not find it. Then, going up to the table, he takes the lamp from the table by the stand, removes the lampshade and puts it on the table. Then he brings the light bulb to the cigar, which he gradually lights up (Fig. 121). He puts the light bulb on the table and covers it with a lampshade.

A small table and a lamp with a shade.

Focus secret:

The secret of the trick is in the device of the cigar, made in such a way that a lit cigarette is placed inside it, in a special holder. At the right moment, the fire of the cigarette appears at the tip of the cigar. On fig. 122, A shows a section of an imitation cigar made of papier-mâché with a metal tube inserted inside. This is a thin-walled tube shown in the figure by a dotted line.

On fig. 122, B is a cigar in a section. B is a tube; G - a metal ring that can move freely inside the tube; D - a burning cigarette firmly inserted into a metal ring; pin - E, inserted into the ring, allows you to move the cigarette inside the tube. To make it more convenient to do this, a small head is attached to the top of the pin. To charge the cigar, the ring is pulled out to the open end, a lit cigarette is inserted, and the ring is lowered into the tube. Zh - the line along which the performer draws a knife, pretending to cut off a cigar, but in fact he simply separates the attached tip from it.

This trick is performed in combination with other program numbers. During the session, the assistant quietly puts a cigarette case with a freshly lit and lighted cigarette into the performer's pocket. In addition to it, there are several ordinary cigars. A lit cigarette made from good tobacco smolders for a very long time without dying out, and at the right moment it can immediately flare up. In order for it to burn well, when smoking, the slot in the cigar should be pinched with your finger.
