Focus Description:

The magician takes a saucer with a porcelain coffee cup from the table with his left hand, and a coffee pot with his right hand and pours coffee from it into a cup (Fig. 114, A). Putting down the coffee pot, he comes forward with a cup and invites someone to drink coffee. But then, taking another step, he suddenly stumbles and splashes multi-colored confetti from the cup, which rains down on the audience (Fig. 114, B).

Focus secret:

The secret of the focus is in the design of the cup and saucer. If desired, the cup can be real porcelain, but the saucer is made (extruded) from thin sheet copper and skillfully painted to match the color and pattern of the cup. Viewers take it for real porcelain. From fig. 115 clear arrangement of both cups and saucers.

Partition A is glued into a porcelain cup with BF-2 glue and carefully painted with lacquer oil paint to match the color of white porcelain. A hole B with a diameter of 5 mm is drilled in the bottom of the cup; a very thin tube is inserted into it, protruding end outward; the tube can exit through hole B in the saucer. You can drill porcelain with an ordinary drill, wetting it abundantly with turpentine.

Behind partition A, put multi-colored confetti and press it hard to fit as much as possible. Confetti is covered on top with thin white tissue paper.

Double saucer. Such a device allows you to pour coffee inside, which comes from the cup through a tube and hole B. Another small hole D with a diameter of 3 mm is made on the side of the saucer, through which air comes out of the saucer, giving way to pouring coffee.

When preparing the number, it is necessary to accurately place the cup on the saucer in advance, aligning their holes. Throwing confetti out of the cup into the auditorium, you should hold the saucer firmly in your left hand so that coffee does not spill out of it. Holding the cup with your right hand, the performer makes a big swing, and then abruptly throws his hand forward: in this case, all the confetti will fly out of the cup for a long distance . Having thrown out the confetti, the magician lowers the cup on the saucer with a casual movement, and then puts both on the table.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Data is transmitted at the time of the handshake 27.12.2002

The Japanese company "NTT DoCoMo" has developed a system that allows you to transfer data at speeds up to 10 Mbps between two portable computers at the moment when their owners shake hands.

The operation of this system, which, unlike wireless data transmission technologies, is much better protected from unauthorized retrieval of information, is possible due to the fact that human skin has relatively good conductivity.

Another possible application of the novelty could be its use for automatic identification of a person, for example, when touching a doorknob or a computer keyboard.
