Focus Description:

The magician carefully shuffles the deck of cards and puts them on the table with a speck up. Asks someone to divide the deck into two parts, then divide each half into two parts again. There will be four stacks of cards face up on the table.

The spectator, at the request of the performer, takes the top card from the first pile and places it, also notched up, on the second pile. Then, at the direction of the illusionist, the spectator again takes the top card from the first pile and places it on top of the third. In conclusion, he takes the next top card from the first pile in the same way and puts it on top of the fourth. The magician asks the viewer to step back a little, and he takes one card from the top of each pile and shows them to those present. It turns out to be jacks of all four suits.

"You see that inseparable friends, four jacks, are always together!" - the performer says, finishing his number.

Props:

A simple deck of cards.

Focus secret:

All four jacks are placed together on top of the deck. When shuffling the deck, the magician keeps an eye on these cards and makes sure that they always lie together on top of the deck. When the spectator begins to transfer the top cards from the first pile to the rest, the performer makes sure that he gradually and correctly places one jack on top of each of the four piles of cards.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

The desire to hug is in women's genes. 12.07.2020

The tendency to show sympathy can be genetically determined. At least this applies to the female half of the population, scientists at the University of Arizona found out.

The experiment involved 464 pairs of twins aged 19 to 84 years. About half were homozygous (from one egg), the other half were heterozygous (from different). Homozygous twins have 100% of common genes, heterozygous twins have 50%.

Each subject rated on a nine-point scale a number of statements related to the manifestation of sympathy. Thus, it was revealed which behavior is characteristic of certain participants, and which is not. The results were analyzed for the similarity of the responses of each pair of twins. And it turned out that homozytic pairs scored more points than heterozytic ones, and the differences in manifestations of sympathy affected only female pairs of twins. The results of men among homo- and heterozygous twins did not differ.

Scientists have come to the conclusion that the tendency to affectionate behavior in women is genetically determined by about 45%. However, the results of the study are more about population-level differences than differences between individuals. That is, this does not mean that the tendency to embrace absolutely every woman is 45% due to heredity, and 55% due to the environment. And predisposition to certain types of behavior does not mean that all people are guaranteed to behave in one way or another.
