Focus Description:

The magician shows the audience a deck and says: "Here I have an ordinary deck of 32 cards, consisting of four suits - spades, clubs, diamonds and hearts. Name any two suits."

Spectators call, say, spades and clubs.

"Excellent," the performer continues, "that means there are diamonds and hearts left. Name one of these two suits."

Let's say that the audience calls the hearts.

"So there are diamonds left, I have eight of them, starting with an ace and ending with a seven. Name four of any of these eight cards."

Suppose the audience calls a seven, an eight, a nine, and a ten.

"Well," says the magician, "there are four cards left unnamed, name two of them."

Spectators call, for example, a lady and a jack.

"So," concludes the performer. "Now name one of them."

They call, say, a lady.

“Very well, please remember: you chose the queen of diamonds. As you can see, I shuffle the cards very carefully and put the whole deck in my pocket. Tell me, what card do you want me to take out the queen of diamonds from my pocket? "

Suppose the audience says: fourth.

The magician takes one card from his pocket and, counting them, puts them on the table. Fourth, he takes out the queen of diamonds.

Props:

A simple deck of 32 cards.

Focus secret:

The performer decides in advance which card should appear from his pocket. He puts this card (in our case, the lady of the tambourine) in his pocket, and in his hands remains a deck of 31 cards, which can be shuffled as you like or given to any spectator. Then the so-called "forced choice" is applied. If, for example, the spectator named two suits at once and one of them was diamonds, then the magician should say: "Tell me one of these suits." If the viewer calls, say, another suit, then the illusionist says: "Well, there are diamonds left, name four cards out of eight diamonds." If the spectator names four cards, then the illusionist says that there are four cards left (including the queen of tambourines), and asks to name two. If two are named, which include the lady of the tambourine, then the magician asks to name one. Now, if the viewer calls the lady, then the performer, putting the deck in his pocket (where the lady of the tambourine lies in advance), takes it out according to the score indicated by the viewer. If the other is called from the two cards, then the magician says: "Excellent, but which card do we have left?" - And the viewer involuntarily calls the lady a tambourine.

When showing a trick, you need to ask questions very quickly and be very careful about what the audience chooses. Carefully read the description of the external effect, and you will understand that the performer deliberately conducts the conversation in such a way that the audience first chooses diamonds, and then from this suit - a lady. If the audience calls the wrong suit, then the magician "forces" them to unwittingly name the remaining suit or the card that is predetermined and lies in the performer's pocket.

You can not put a card in your pocket beforehand, but keep it constantly on top or bottom of the deck during shuffling. When shuffling the deck, the card should be held with a damp finger soaked imperceptibly on a sponge with water standing on the table under cover.

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

The threat of space debris to the Earth's magnetic field 01.05.2024

More and more often we hear about an increase in the amount of space debris surrounding our planet. However, it is not only active satellites and spacecraft that contribute to this problem, but also debris from old missions. The growing number of satellites launched by companies like SpaceX creates not only opportunities for the development of the Internet, but also serious threats to space security. Experts are now turning their attention to the potential implications for the Earth's magnetic field. Dr. Jonathan McDowell of the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics emphasizes that companies are rapidly deploying satellite constellations, and the number of satellites could grow to 100 in the next decade. The rapid development of these cosmic armadas of satellites can lead to contamination of the Earth's plasma environment with dangerous debris and a threat to the stability of the magnetosphere. Metal debris from used rockets can disrupt the ionosphere and magnetosphere. Both of these systems play a key role in protecting the atmosphere and maintaining ... >>

Solidification of bulk substances 30.04.2024

There are quite a few mysteries in the world of science, and one of them is the strange behavior of bulk materials. They may behave like a solid but suddenly turn into a flowing liquid. This phenomenon has attracted the attention of many researchers, and we may finally be getting closer to solving this mystery. Imagine sand in an hourglass. It usually flows freely, but in some cases its particles begin to get stuck, turning from a liquid to a solid. This transition has important implications for many areas, from drug production to construction. Researchers from the USA have attempted to describe this phenomenon and come closer to understanding it. In the study, the scientists conducted simulations in the laboratory using data from bags of polystyrene beads. They found that the vibrations within these sets had specific frequencies, meaning that only certain types of vibrations could travel through the material. Received ... >>

Pets prolong life 06.12.2016

Scientists have found evidence that pets do extend the life of their owners.

Employees of the University of Pennsylvania (USA) and the University of Rostock (Germany) said that they studied the health data of 92 patients who had a heart attack. According to experts, the presence of pets improved the condition of 94% of people.

Experts explained that this is due to the production of the hormone oxytocin, which is more in people who keep animals at home. This hormone, the authors of the study note, is produced with positive emotions. And pets are always ready to cheer up their owner.

People who decide to keep animals at home have normalized cholesterol levels, they are easier to get out of stressful conditions. They also have a better cardiovascular system. Experts note that the need to walk dogs every day also has a positive effect on heart function.
