Focus Description:

The magician shows the cane and hands it to an assistant so that he can give it to the audience for inspection. While the assistant walks with a cane, the illusionist spreads a newspaper on the table, and when the cane is returned to him, he begins to wrap it in the newspaper (Fig. 239), then picks up the bundle and wraps the paper near the handle (Fig. 240).

Having knocked the package on the table, proving that the stick is inside, he turns the package and wraps it at the lower end of the stick. He holds the package in his hands for a few seconds, walking out into the middle of the stage with it, then quickly begins to tear it apart. The cane is missing. The magician, spreading his arms, makes a sharp turn - and the cane again appears in his hands.

Props:

Two completely identical wooden canes.

Newspaper.

The secret is that the performer has two completely identical sticks. He puts one of them in advance in a long trouser pocket that goes out under the vest near the waist. From there, the cane appears in his hands, and he manages to pass the first cane backstage, wrapping it in newspaper.

If you look closely at Fig. 240, you will see that the table is located not far from the side curtain. This plays a big role in our issue. The magician wraps the cane so that it can move freely inside the newspaper. It is much better to use hard paper. Having wrapped the cane, the illusionist twists the paper near the handle and, turning the package over, for an instant carries its end next to the side curtain. This is quite enough for the stick to slip out of the package (Fig. 241). An assistant should catch it behind the scenes, and it is best to hang a bag with a hoop inserted into its top near the side curtain. Getting a cane from a bundle into such a bag is not so difficult. You can also lay a carpet or mat on the floor near the backstage, which will muffle the sound of a falling cane.

The most difficult moment to perform the number is when the cane flies out of the package. The magician must turn the package completely freely, without looking at the end from where the wand flies out. At the same time, you can look at the other end of the package and, as soon as the cane falls out, immediately move a little away from the side curtain to the middle of the stage, where you begin to tear the wrapper.

Learn to throw the wand so quickly and deftly that it is difficult for the audience to catch this moment.

The second cane, which you previously put in your trouser pocket, should be pulled out with a very quick, sharp jerk, turning sideways towards the audience.

You can also use another method for the appearance of the cane, in which the paper does not tear, but only becomes very crumpled in your hands. Then it straightens and unfolds. Holding the paper in front of you, you show it to the audience, turning both sides. It will not be difficult to take a cane out of your pocket under the cover of a newspaper and, wrapping it in paper, then hand it over to the audience. They unwrap it and find a wand inside. You can unwrap the wrapper yourself, but you need to do this in the middle of the stage, closer to the audience.

Less and less laptops are being bought 28.04.2014

Analysts at Digitimes Research have calculated that global notebook shipments in the first quarter of 2014 were down 14,2% from the last quarter of 2013. On an annualized basis, there was also a drop: compared to the first quarter of last year, shipments decreased by 5,5%.
