Focus Description:

The magician places two chairs near the table and casually hangs newspapers on their backs. Then he gets up at the table, takes a newspaper and wraps a dove in it (Fig. 37).

Focus Disappearance of pigeons
Fig. 37

The bundle is placed on the table in full view of the audience. Then he does the same with another dove. Taking both packages in his hands, he goes to the audience and deploys them there; packages are empty. The doves are gone.

The illusionist puts empty bags on the table, removes the newspapers from the chairs and, showing them to the audience, removes them.

Props:

Two chairs, preferably with closed backs.

Five or six newspapers.

A quadrangular net made of fine mesh or cloth.

Secret. The work table is located close to the side stage or door.

The performer places the first chair, having previously hung two or three newspapers on it and covered the entire back to the seat with them. Then he takes the second, puts it at a small distance from the first, closer to the wings. Newspapers also hang on the back of the second chair. All this should be done in a relaxed, simple way.

Chairs should be placed so that the newspapers form a kind of screen from the table to the backstage. Under the cover of these newspapers, the assistant trained by you at the right time carefully and very carefully holds out a net to the table, in which you put the pigeon. The assistant immediately turns the net over - and the bird is closed in the bag.

The moment of lowering the dove into the net is shown in fig. 51.

Focus Disappearance of pigeons
Fig. 51

The assistant quickly releases the pigeon and immediately gives a net to receive the next one (the net is shown separately in Fig. 52).

The illusionist takes newspapers from the chairs to wrap the pigeons - first from one, then from the other. At the same time, it is necessary to ensure that there are no gaps between the newspapers through which viewers can notice the work of an assistant. The table at the back can also be covered with a hanging newspaper, thus creating protection from the eyes of the audience.

In order for the trick to make a big impression on the audience, it must be carefully rehearsed with an assistant. To do this, you will have to reveal the secret of the number to another friend, whom you will ask to carefully review and check your rehearsals from different parts of the hall, where there may be spectators.

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

The threat of space debris to the Earth's magnetic field 01.05.2024

More and more often we hear about an increase in the amount of space debris surrounding our planet. However, it is not only active satellites and spacecraft that contribute to this problem, but also debris from old missions. The growing number of satellites launched by companies like SpaceX creates not only opportunities for the development of the Internet, but also serious threats to space security. Experts are now turning their attention to the potential implications for the Earth's magnetic field. Dr. Jonathan McDowell of the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics emphasizes that companies are rapidly deploying satellite constellations, and the number of satellites could grow to 100 in the next decade. The rapid development of these cosmic armadas of satellites can lead to contamination of the Earth's plasma environment with dangerous debris and a threat to the stability of the magnetosphere. Metal debris from used rockets can disrupt the ionosphere and magnetosphere. Both of these systems play a key role in protecting the atmosphere and maintaining ... >>

Solidification of bulk substances 30.04.2024

There are quite a few mysteries in the world of science, and one of them is the strange behavior of bulk materials. They may behave like a solid but suddenly turn into a flowing liquid. This phenomenon has attracted the attention of many researchers, and we may finally be getting closer to solving this mystery. Imagine sand in an hourglass. It usually flows freely, but in some cases its particles begin to get stuck, turning from a liquid to a solid. This transition has important implications for many areas, from drug production to construction. Researchers from the USA have attempted to describe this phenomenon and come closer to understanding it. In the study, the scientists conducted simulations in the laboratory using data from bags of polystyrene beads. They found that the vibrations within these sets had specific frequencies, meaning that only certain types of vibrations could travel through the material. Received ... >>

It will be easier to understand the lecturer 24.12.2002

The Japanese corporation "JVC" introduced a radio receiver that automatically corrects the diction of the presenters and makes their speech more measured.

The development is focused primarily on older people who do not have time to perceive too fast speech. The speaker's voice is recorded on a semiconductor integrated circuit, where it undergoes fast processing: pauses are removed, due to which the words are slightly stretched.

At the same time, as far as possible, "eaten" endings, hesitation and other inaccuracies are corrected.
