EFFECTIVE FOCUSES AND THEIR CLUES A wonderful scarf. Focus secret Directory / Spectacular tricks and their clues Focus Description: On the way to the stage, the illusionist grabs a wooden frame from the desktop. Stopping at the ramp, he shows this frame from all sides, looks through it into the hall; taking out a "magic" wand from the inner pocket of his jacket, he circles it inside the frame, proving that it does not contain glass or anything else like it. Then the magician puts the frame and the "magic" wand on the demonstration table standing on the proscenium, goes to the work table and takes two newspapers there. Returning to his former place, he shows one of the newspapers, unfolding it, turning both sides towards the audience and striking it sharply with his free hand; after this, he folds the newspaper and places it on the display table. Having unfolded, he demonstrates the second newspaper sheet, folds the newspaper in half and wraps the "magic" wand in it. Showing a folded newspaper with a stick inside, the artist suddenly quickly crushes the newspaper into a ball and, holding it, holds it in his left hand. Pointing with his right hand at the crumpled newspaper and smiling, he looks at the audience, as if to say: "You see, the wand has disappeared!" Slowly, without haste, breaks the newspaper lump, straightens the torn edges, lifting them up so that they form a kind of corolla, resembling a flower; from the middle of the "flower" the artist just as slowly, in parts, pulls out a bright colored scarf. The presenter throws the crumpled newspaper backstage, and throws the handkerchief up and, having caught it, shows the audience from both sides and into the light. After that, the illusionist takes a wooden frame and, using four push pins, pulls a scarf over it, closing the frame opening with it. Turning both sides, shows the frame and packs it in a second newspaper. Having shown a frame wrapped in a newspaper, the artist picks up ordinary scissors or a knife and pierces a handkerchief stretched over the frame through the newspaper. He pierces the handkerchief in several places, while the audience can clearly see that the scissors pass through and their ends go far to the opposite side. The scissors are placed on the tray of the approaching assistant. Once again showing both sides of the frame, now wrapped in a punctured newspaper, the leader slowly tears the newspaper wrapper from the frame and puts the scraps of newspaper on a tray to the assistant. The audience is amazed as they see the handkerchief intact. Having pulled out the buttons, the magician removes the handkerchief from the frame, gives the buttons and the frame to the assistant, and he takes the tray away. Leading with a handkerchief descends into the hall. Having passed through the hall, the artist introduces the handkerchief to many spectators sitting in different rows, giving the handkerchief to them. The audience is very pleased, having the opportunity to feel the "magic" object. Focus Secrets: The first secret lies in an unusual "magic" wand. It was made by an illusionist from colored paper glued with a tube in two layers. To do this, the artist took a wooden stick or a metal tube of the appropriate diameter and, wrapping it with paper 2 times, glued it together. Inside this stick-pipe, he put a colored handkerchief and plugged the tube at both ends with small wooden colored corks, glued on. It is impossible to distinguish such a "wand" from the real one in appearance, but you need to use it, keeping in mind its fragility. Crumple this stick, wrapped in newspaper, is not difficult. But you need to get the handkerchief out of it so that the audience does not see the crumpled "stick" - that's why the magician turned the edges of the torn newspaper up, forming a whisk out of them. The second secret - why the handkerchief was not pierced - lies in the special design of the wooden frame. This frame is shown in Fig. 42.
The frame has a square shape and should be slightly larger than the scarf in external dimensions. It is made of bars 30x40 mm. Elements a are connected to element b with glue, in half a tree. Side racks and in the middle part have a groove 10 mm wide and deep. The lower bar in has a section of 10x40 mm and is glued flush to the side posts (see figure). Element g has a section of 20x40 mm and moves freely in the grooves of the side posts a, for which it has spikes (protrusions) at the ends. In order for the element d not to fall out of the frame, the grooves from below are covered with metal brackets d made of wire. If bar r is moved all the way down, then to an uninformed viewer the frame will seem connected from four solid bars. This is how our magician showed it to those present. When he tightened the frame with a handkerchief, he pinned it with buttons only to bars b and d (two buttons to each). This kept the possibility of moving the bar r along the grooves. The artist wrapped the frame in the newspaper very loosely, so that it would not interfere with the movement of bar r. Then, imperceptibly for the audience, he turned the frame over with bar b down. At the same time, the block r under its own weight also slid down along with the handkerchief pinned to it. Thus, the inner opening of the frame turned out to be open. After that, the artist pierced through the newspaper with scissors, not being afraid to damage the handkerchief. Before removing the newspaper, he turned the frame again, but now with bar b up - bar d slipped down at the same time and covered the opening with a handkerchief. The illusionist fearlessly gave the handkerchief into the hands of the audience, since he had no secrets. Author: Bedarev G.K.
