If you want to master the manipulation of billiard balls, the first thing you need to do is learn how to properly "grab" the palm of your hand. In this case, the term "capture" means (and will be used in this sense in this section) the covert holding of the ball (or any other object) in the palm of the hand, without the audience having to guess that there is something in the palm of the hand. Over time, with experience, you will realize that it is easier to keep the ball in the "capture" than, for example, a coin.

The curvature of the surface of the ball makes it possible to carry out a more reliable retention of the ball, and since the entire surface of the ball is spherical, there is no need to lay it on any particular side. You will need to master the "capture" of the ball with both the right and left palms.

The "palm grip" method proposed below is probably the oldest and is known as the "classic grip".

1. Hold the ball in the center of the palm, tensing the muscles associated with the thumb and little finger. As a result, slightly swollen palm muscles will exert pressure on the ball from both sides, the force of which is sufficient to hold it even when the hand moves.

Focus Classic ball grip

2. At first it will seem difficult to you, but try and try, and balls of various sizes, until you pick up the one that best suits the size of your palm. You should not hold your fingers with excessive tension or unnaturally wide apart, more precisely, splayed. The most important thing, fundamentally necessary when mastering the "palm hold" - the hand with the ball should always look relaxed and completely natural.

Focus Classic ball grip

If the ball is captured correctly, then some gestures are available to you, you can move your fingers and so on - all without arousing suspicion. In the classical grip, we advise you to keep your hand close to the body and always with the back to the audience: "light up" the ball means the complete destruction of the illusion and embarrassment. You should master the classic hold and keep practicing, as this is one of the most widely used tricks in the Art of Illusion.

Solidification of bulk substances 30.04.2024

There are quite a few mysteries in the world of science, and one of them is the strange behavior of bulk materials. They may behave like a solid but suddenly turn into a flowing liquid. This phenomenon has attracted the attention of many researchers, and we may finally be getting closer to solving this mystery. Imagine sand in an hourglass. It usually flows freely, but in some cases its particles begin to get stuck, turning from a liquid to a solid. This transition has important implications for many areas, from drug production to construction. Researchers from the USA have attempted to describe this phenomenon and come closer to understanding it. In the study, the scientists conducted simulations in the laboratory using data from bags of polystyrene beads. They found that the vibrations within these sets had specific frequencies, meaning that only certain types of vibrations could travel through the material. Received ... >>

Implanted brain stimulator 30.04.2024

In recent years, scientific research in the field of neurotechnology has made enormous progress, opening new horizons for the treatment of various psychiatric and neurological disorders. One of the significant achievements was the creation of the smallest implanted brain stimulator, presented by a laboratory at Rice University. Called Digitally Programmable Over-brain Therapeutic (DOT), this innovative device promises to revolutionize treatments by providing more autonomy and accessibility to patients. The implant, developed in collaboration with Motif Neurotech and clinicians, introduces an innovative approach to brain stimulation. It is powered through an external transmitter using magnetoelectric power transfer, eliminating the need for wires and large batteries typical of existing technologies. This makes the procedure less invasive and provides more opportunities to improve patients' quality of life. In addition to its use in treatment, resist ... >>

The perception of time depends on what one is looking at 29.04.2024

Research in the field of the psychology of time continues to surprise us with its results. Recent discoveries by scientists from George Mason University (USA) turned out to be quite remarkable: they discovered that what we look at can greatly influence our sense of time. During the experiment, 52 participants took a series of tests, estimating the duration of viewing various images. The results were surprising: the size and detail of the images had a significant impact on the perception of time. Larger, less cluttered scenes created the illusion of time slowing down, while smaller, busier images gave the feeling of time speeding up. Researchers suggest that visual clutter or detail overload can make it difficult to perceive the world around us, which in turn can lead to faster perception of time. Thus, it was shown that our perception of time is closely related to what we look at. Larger and smaller ... >>

Healthy teeth are the main secret of sexuality 16.01.2024

After conducting one of the studies, paleontologists identified a key factor in human sexual attractiveness. The study, carried out by researchers from the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa and the European ESRF complex in France, reveals the impact of healthy and beautiful teeth on the chances of attracting the interest of the opposite sex.

The basis for the scientists’ conclusions was an evolutionarily developed mechanism. The study aroused interest in the fact that ancient herbivores (dicynodonts of the Triassic period) had sharp fangs. Unlike predators, for whom sharp teeth were typical, herbivores preferred flat ones, necessary for the consumption of plant food. The anti-predator hypothesis was rejected.

Experts came to the conclusion that sharp fangs served as a means of attracting the opposite sex. Teeth, as an element that helps attract a mate, were “used” more than 250 million years ago by ancient lizards, the possible ancestors of modern mammals, known as Choerosaurus dejageri. A study of the shape of the jaw and teeth of these animals showed that sharp fangs were used in “battles” for a partner, while being fragile for use in fights.

The role of sexual selection, as a special case of natural selection, has long been underestimated in evolution. Certain external features of animals, including dental health, had the ability to attract the attention of the opposite sex, considered a sign of beauty and good health, the scientists concluded.

Dental health influences sexual attractiveness has its roots in evolutionary strategies. This study highlights the importance of oral health care not only from a medical but also from a social perspective.
