EFFECTIVE FOCUSES AND THEIR CLUES Hypnosis. Focus Secret Directory / Spectacular tricks and their clues Focus Description: The spectator leaves the room. Twelve cards from the top of the shuffled deck are laid out in three rows of four cards. One of the spectators chooses one of twelve cards. The person who left the room is called back. The magician touches the cards one by one in random order, asking: "Is this it? This one? Or maybe this one?" And the spectator replies, "No, I don't think so, no," until finally the magician touches the chosen card, then the spectator replies, "Yes." Props: Any twelve cards and an accomplice. Focus secret: The person who leaves the room is your accomplice, Evgenia. You signal her to prepare for the trick by saying a prearranged phrase such as "I'm going to do an experiment involving the use of hypnosis, which I, like all real magicians, are good at." 1. As you say this, you are holding the cards and have already looked at the bottom card of the deck. Let it be six of hearts. As you say your monologue, you hold the deck face up so that everyone, especially Eugene, can see that the bottom card is the six of hearts. This is the key card that both of you know and remember. 2. The rest of the audience, of course, will not pay attention to the card, since they do not know what is happening. Then you say, "Now people are afraid of any hint of hypnotism - I think they are afraid that they will be subjected to a spell from which they will never break. I'm not going to go that far. I just want to instill my will in some subject so that he or she will catch my vibrations and chose the card that I will indicate. Well, is there anyone interested? 3. Eugenia will say "I" and quickly raise her hand so you can say "I think Eugenia was the first to raise her hand, so let's try to suggest it. First Eugenia, would you agree to leave the room ?" 4. As soon as Eugenia comes out, say: "Okay. Now, so that you can see that there is no collusion behind all this, I will shuffle the cards." You perform a normal shuffle, but make sure that the last stack of cards you move from your right hand to your left hand is only four or five cards long to make sure the bottom card (six of hearts) is the fourth or fifth from the top of the deck. You can, if you are confident enough, re-shuffle the cards by moving the top six cards back to the bottom of the deck and then back to the top. The most important thing is that the six of hearts ends up among the top twelve cards.
5. Now you deal the top twelve cards in a row (see picture) and ask someone in the audience to take one of them. Now that everyone knows the chosen card, you tell the audience that when Eugenia returns, you are going to point to the cards in random order, asking Eugenia each time if this is the chosen card. Explain that she will say "No" until you point to the correct card, at which point you will give her a strong hypnotic message that will make her say "Yes". Then you ask Eugenia to enter. 6. You explain to Evgenia that the audience has chosen a certain card from the twelve on the table. And you continue: "I'm going to take turns pointing at the cards in no particular order, but when I point to the selected card, you will feel an inner voice telling you:" Yes. "It will be a kind of mental communication between us, akin to hypnosis. You will have to obey the impulse and say yes. Do you know why I advise Eugenia to say "I don't think" or "I'm not sure, I think not" when you point to the right card? Because it is possible (this will happen in one case out of twelve) that the card chosen by the spectator is the six of hearts. In this case, the first time you point to this card and Evgenia says "I don't think so", you can move on to the other two cards and then back to the six of hearts again. Eugenia can now say, "Yes," and add, "I had a faint feeling that it was her when you first pointed her out, but now I'm absolutely sure." If you are not demonstrating this trick for the first time, then you should show one or two cards twice. That way the audience won't have to think about it when you have to do it when choosing the right card. You will know when to say it. Do you understand?" Eugenia will confirm that she understands. 7. Now you simply point to the cards in any order. Sooner or later you will point to the right card, the six of hearts, and ask, "Is that it?" Evgenia will stand a short pause and say: "I don't think so." Then you will point to two other cards, about which Evgeniya will say that they are not them, but when you point to the third card after the key, Evgeniya will say: "Yes, it was her." You tell her that she has chosen the correct card. If she's a good actress, she might go further and say, "Strange, I felt like someone told me to say yes. I can't explain it, but I kind of knew it was her."
