EFFECTIVE FOCUSES AND THEIR CLUES Trick with twenty-one cards. Focus secret Directory / Spectacular tricks and their clues Focus Description: From the twenty-one cards offered, the spectator selects one, remembers it and returns it to the deck, which is shuffled. The magician deals the deck three times face up in three piles; the viewer each time shows which row the card is in. Then the magician shows the hidden card. Focus secret: This is probably one of the simplest tricks I know - you almost don't have to do anything: everything works itself. This trick can be done by a seven-year-old child, but it is recommended to add your own little details to make the audience, who thinks they know the secret, a little tense. 1. In the original version of the trick, known even to children, any twenty-one cards are counted from the top of the deck - in the future only these cards are used. Ask one of your spectators, say George, to shuffle the cards, choose and remember one of them. This card is shown to the entire audience, but not shown to you, then placed among the other 20 cards and the deck is shuffled again. 2. Now, holding the deck face down in one hand, deal the cards into three packs of seven cards face up. While doing this, ask George to follow the chosen card and at the end say which pack it ended up in. Then connect the three stacks, making sure that the stack containing the chosen card is in the middle between the other two. Then deal the deck again into three piles and ask again which pile the chosen card is in. Again place this pile between the other two as you collect the cards, and then for the third and final time deal the three piles and again place said pile between the other two. Begin dealing the cards in one pile, counting them quietly to ten, and when you have dealt the eleventh card, say, “Here is the chosen card.” The disadvantage of this trick is that everyone, even those who see it for the first time, will notice that you place the pile with the chosen card between the other two. They will notice if you always pick up your chosen pile first and then carefully place one pile on the bottom and the other on top. So first of all, you need to try to disguise it as much as possible. Below is the best way, in my opinion, to do this: If the chosen stack is in the middle, carefully pick up the right-hand stack from the table, place it on the center stack, carefully pick up both stacks together and place them on the left-hand stack, then carefully pick up all three from the table. If you are asked to repeat the trick, or if one of your spectators has seen it before, they will notice that the chosen card is again the eleventh from the bottom, that is, the center card of a deck of twenty-one cards. Therefore, it does not hurt you to change the usual course of action, especially since it is not at all difficult. When you collect cards for the third and last time, instead of placing the chosen pile between two others, place it on top of them. The chosen card will now be the fourth from the bottom of the combined face-up deck, and the eighteenth when you turn the cards over, placing the face-down deck on the table with your left hand. But why not go further? When you deal cards into three piles of seven cards for the third time, the selected card will be the fourth face-up card in one of the three piles. If you can memorize three different cards in a few seconds, just memorize the fourth card in each pile. When they tell you which pile the selected card is in, you will know which card is selected and throw the other two out of your memory. Then, of course, you won't need to count the cards, so you can demonstrate the hidden card in any way you like. I find that the trick looks most effective if done in the following way. After you've dealt three stacks for the first time and found out which card Georgy's chosen is, casually collect them. At the same time, distract the audience by explaining that by trying to remember which cards are in the selected pile, you are expecting to find a hidden card. When dealing cards in three piles, study them as if you were trying to memorize them. After the third deal, when you know the chosen card, collect the cards and casually shuffle them. Anyone who thought they knew this trick will be surprised and think you've tripped. Hand the cards to George and ask him to shuffle them and place them face up on the table while you concentrate. When twenty-one cards are on the table, look at them “carefully” for a few seconds, say that you are hesitating between two cards, then say with a worried look that you are still leaning towards this card - and pick up the hidden card. Breathe a sigh of relief when you see that you were right, and congratulations - you deserve it: you made a simple mechanical trick a little more interesting. If the selected stack is on the right, carefully pick it up from the table, place it on the middle stack, pick up the double stack from the table, place it in your left hand, then carefully pick up the left hand stack from the table and place it on top of the double stack. If the selected stack is on the left, carefully pick it up from the table, place it on the middle stack and pick up the resulting stack from the table into your left hand, then place the stack on the right on top.
