Focus Description:

You take a deck of cards, open the cards in a fan and invite one spectator to take a card first, then another. Tell the audience to look at the cards carefully and memorize them.

Then you ask the spectators to put those cards back into the deck, after which you carefully shuffle them.

Now you turn to your assistant and invite him to the middle of the stage. In the assistant's hands is a black silk handkerchief. You count: "One, two, three!" - and throw a deck of cards towards the assistant.

The cards shot up in the air, scattered across the stage. But two of them seemed to linger on the assistant's black handkerchief. What is this? There were two aces! What will be the surprise of the audience! After all, it was these two cards that at the beginning of the demonstration of the trick were taken out of the deck and remembered by two spectators. They are even more amazed because they themselves took a direct part in this trick. How did the cards make this mysterious flight from the deck to the handkerchief?

Focus secret:

For this trick, which can also be shown in two ways, you need a deck of cards, one half of which consists of aces of spades, the other half of aces of diamonds. In principle, you can take any cards, but so that their ratio is equal in the deck. So, for example, you can take: kings of spades and aces of hearts, queens of diamonds and aces of spades, and so on.

As always, when performing tricks with cards, this secret deck of cards is placed on the illusion table in advance.

In addition to these secretly selected cards, a black handkerchief is also needed, which also contains a secret. It can be made of silk or satin and can be trimmed with fringe or cord. The size of the scarf is 60 x 60 cm. One half of the scarf is double. The secret half of the scarf is cut out of the same fabric measuring 30 x 60 cm and attached with one large edge to the main scarf in the middle, that is, along the central line dividing the scarf in half. Two black buttons are sewn to the corners of the scarf and the secret half from the inside.

An ace of diamonds is glued to the inside of the main scarf, and an ace of spades is glued to the inside of the secret half of the scarf. The corners of the main scarf and the secret half are combined and fastened with buttons. The scarf is ready for display. An assistant enters the stage at your invitation, holding a handkerchief by the corners with buttons.

First option. You take a secret deck of cards from the table, first open the upper half with a fan, invite one of the spectators to draw a card from it. Then fold and fan out the bottom half again and let the other spectator draw the card as well. Thus, both spectators took the cards known to you. Now you put the cards in a deck, shuffle them, and throw them into the air. The cards make their flight, and meanwhile the assistant unfastens the buttons on the handkerchief, the secret half of the handkerchief falls, and the audience sees their two cards on the handkerchief.

The assistant's actions must be perfectly synchronized with the flight of the cards. The handkerchief should not open earlier or later. Everything in detail must be carefully rehearsed, for the success of this trick depends on it. You and your assistant should have the same breath and complete coordination.

The second version of the trick is as follows: you take two cards chosen by the audience, and put the rest on an illusion table. Then go up to the assistant and throw these two cards into the handkerchief, which is folded at that time by your assistant in half (in half).

The assistant unfastens the buttons and releases only half of the main handkerchief. The other half of the main scarf and its secret half remain in his hands.

Thus, the audience sees secret cards on the open handkerchief, and the cards thrown into the handkerchief by you are between the secret and main halves of the handkerchief, which the assistant holds in his hands.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Ozone on Venus 22.04.2012

The Venus Express space probe launched by the European Space Agency has detected a thin ozone layer in the atmosphere of Venus at an altitude of 100 kilometers from the surface of the planet.

Since ozone shields some of the ultraviolet rays that are harmful to all living things, it is believed that its presence may indicate the presence of life on the planet. However, this gas in the atmosphere of Venus is more than a hundred times less than in the atmosphere of the Earth, and for the emergence of life on the planet, at least 20% of its terrestrial concentration is needed.

So, most likely, there is no life on Venus, even in the upper atmosphere, where it is not as hot as on the surface.
