Focus Description:

Take an empty cardboard box, show it to the audience and put it on the table. Place a small tray on the box, and a black cube on it.

Cover the cube with a black case. After making several passes, lift the case. The cube has disappeared from the tray. After showing the audience an empty case and putting it aside, you remove the tray and take out the disappeared cube from the box.

Focus secret:

Folding cube. Its side faces are glued from two pieces of cardboard that can rotate relative to the middle horizontal line. The back and front faces of the cube are made of dense dark fabric, the top and bottom are made of solid pieces of cardboard, to which a steel spring of several turns is attached on the inside.

All the edges of the cube and the middle seams of the side faces are pasted over with a dark cloth. The cube is evenly colored black. If you put pressure on such a cube from above, overcoming the resistance of the spring, then it will flatten, turning into a square plate, which can be easily placed under any flat object. If the pressure is released, the plate will again become a three-dimensional cube.

For the trick, you must also prepare in advance a cube-shaped cardboard case, painted black inside and out, and a false black cube, which is also a cardboard case, but slightly smaller.

Before demonstrating the trick, flatten the secret cube and discreetly hide it under the edge of the tray. Then take the box with your left hand, and the tray with your right hand, pressing a flat cube to its bottom with your fingers. Put the box on the table, and put a tray on it, so that the secret cube falls into the box and straightens there under the action of the spring. Now place the mock cube on the tray (open side down) and cover it with the case.

Gently squeeze the sides of the case and lift it up. Together with the case, a false cube will also rise, which the audience will not notice, since it also has no bottom face and is painted black on the inside.

Put aside the case along with the false die, remove the tray and, in front of the audience, remove the cube from the box.
