Focus Description:

Take a cup from the table and, having shown the audience that it is empty, put it back on the table. Then take two aluminum teaspoons from the table, let the audience inspect them and put them in a cup.

The spoons do not lie correctly, but you say that they obviously know how they are comfortable in the cup. Then pour hot tea into a cup, and the spoons will automatically pop out of it.

Focus secret:

It's all about a strong spring with a sugar "lock". The spring is rolled up from elastic brass. Its size can be arbitrary, although the larger the spring, the more effective it throws spoons.

Focus Pop-up Spoons

The best thing is to make a spring on the inside diameter of the bottom of the cup - this will prevent the spring from slipping and shifting. The end of the spring, bent in a square, is made so long that, when compressed, it does not touch the second short bent end.

The spring is "charged" with a small piece of sugar. When hot tea is poured into such a cup, the sugar dissolves and the spring, freed from the sugar "lock", throws the spoons up.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

USB4 version 2.0 03.09.2022

USB Promoter Group has announced USB4 version 2.0. Although the name hints that this is only a second generation USB4 upgrade, it supports double the data transfer speed of its predecessor, up to 80Gbps.

The new standard will be backward compatible with USB4 version 1.0, SB 3.2, USB 2.0 and Thunderbolt 3, but not with USB 1.0 and Thunderbolt 4. USB4 2.0 specifications will be updated for USB Type-C and USB Power Delivery (USB PD).

Due to licensing issues, USB and Thunderbolt were updated side by side. Intel laptops have a Thunderbolt port, while AMD Ryzen laptops have USB4 branding. However, even after Intel's upgrade to Thunderbolt 4, data transfer speeds were roughly equivalent to those of Thunderbolt 3 and USB4 1.0. With version 5, Ryzen-based laptops may have an edge, at least until Intel announces Thunderbolt XNUMX.

Brad Saunders, Head of the USB Promoter Group, said: “Back to the USB tradition again, this updated USB4 specification doubles the data performance to bring a higher level of functionality to the USB Type-C ecosystem.

Solutions benefiting the most from this speed boost include high performance displays, hard drives and USB hubs and docking stations."

Key features of the upgraded USB4 solution:

Operate at speeds up to 80 Gb/s based on a new physical layer architecture using existing 40 Gb/s USB Type-C passive cables and newly defined 80 Gb/s USB Type-C active cables.
Upgrading image data and protocols to better take advantage of the increase in available bandwidth.
An update to the USB data architecture now allows USB 3.2 data tunneling to exceed 20Gbps.
Updated to the latest DisplayPort and PCIe specifications.
Backwards compatible with USB4 version 1.0, USB 3.2, USB 2.0 and Thunderbolt 3.
USB4 version 2.0 will debut on devices later this year.
