Focus Description:

How to make a coin disappear from the box and return to it again.

Focus secret:

It is a small round box made of boxwood, 2,5 cm deep and of such a size that only a large coin can fit inside, covering the bottom.

The top and bottom of the box are covered with multi-colored paper; you will also need another coin, one side of which is pasted over with the same paper. So, if you put this coin with the glued side up, then the coin is taken as the bottom of the box, which thus seems to be empty.

The magician begins by asking the audience to look at the box, while he himself keeps the prepared coin hidden in his right hand all the time.

He asks the audience for a coin, then replaces it with his own, but in such a way that the audience sees only its unglued side. He then announces that this box has the strange ability to make every coin put into it disappear.

He puts a coin in it, holding it with the uncovered side towards the audience, but dropping it so that it lies in the box with the glued side up. Then he puts on the lid and shakes the box to prove by jingling that the coin is indeed there.

He asks the audience to say when they would like the coin to leave the box, and after listening to their order, touches the lid with his staff and shakes the box again.

This time, however, he shakes it sideways, and since there is no room for the coin to move in that direction, it does not jingle. He boldly claims that the coin has disappeared and, opening the box, shows its contents to the audience, who, at the sight of the side of the coin pasted over with paper, which they take for the bottom, must recognize its emptiness.

He closes the box once more and touches it with his wand, announcing that he will make the coin return. He shakes the box and again you can hear the coin clinking.

Removing the lid, he turns the box upside down and drops the coin into his hand. This causes her to fall on the papered side and thus hides the case from the public.

Having again handed over the box for consideration, he exchanges the prepared coin for the one that was given to him and which he gratefully returns to the owner.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>
