Focus Description:

In the hands of a magician is a pack of cigarettes. Having opened the pack, he pours out all the cigarettes it contains into the palm of his hand and puts them on the illusion table. Instead of cigarettes, the performer first takes one white handkerchief from the table and puts it in an empty pack, then another exactly the same white handkerchief and also places it in the pack.

Having closed the pack with handkerchiefs, the performer shakes it several times in the air. Then, showing both hands in turn to the audience, he assures them that nothing is hidden in his hands, and opens the pack from the other side. And suddenly, unexpectedly for the audience, the performer pulls out a handkerchief from a pack, which turned from white into blue, and then a second handkerchief, which turned from white into red. The audience does not believe the magician - they believe that the performer hid the red and blue handkerchiefs in a pack in advance, but he did not get the white ones and they remained lying there.

At the insistence of the audience, the artist breaks the pack and shows it to the public.

Viewers are convinced that the pack is completely empty. The artist tears it into small pieces and finishes the demonstration of the trick.

Focus secret:

To demonstrate this trick, you will need a pack of cigarettes and four thin silk handkerchiefs measuring 20 x 20 cm - two white, one blue and one red. Before the performance, the artist puts white handkerchiefs in his jacket pocket or on an illusion table. One of the colored handkerchiefs, let's say blue, has a secret - a cylindrical thimble made of papier-mache to the size of the performer's thumb is glued to one of its corners (Fig. 1).

When preparing the trick, you need to take a pack of cigarettes, carefully, without tearing, open it along the glued side, pour out all the cigarettes from it and put a blue handkerchief on the bottom of the pack so that the thimble is in a vertical position with the hole up in the corner along the side wall (Fig. 2 ).

A red handkerchief is placed next to a blue handkerchief. Cigarettes are placed on top of the handkerchiefs (how many will fit), and the pack is sealed (Fig. 3).

At the moment of demonstrating the trick, the performer takes a “charged” pack of cigarettes from the table or pulls out of his pocket, carefully opens it and frees him from the cigarettes. Putting them on the table, he takes two white handkerchiefs and places them in a bundle, pushing them into a thimble glued to a blue handkerchief.

Pushing white handkerchiefs into the thimble, the performer closes the pack again. Showing the audience first his right hand, then his left, the artist shifts the pack from one hand to the other, turning it at this time, of course, unnoticed by the audience, upside down. Then he opens the pack from the side of the bottom and, in order to make it more convenient to proceed further, tears off this wall completely (Fig. 4).

Instead of white handkerchiefs, the performer first takes out a blue handkerchief from the pack. So that the audience could not unravel the secret, the artist, taking a thimble, covers it with three fingers from the side of the audience (Fig. 5).

Pulling out a blue handkerchief, he quickly puts it in his pocket. After that, the artist calmly pulls out a red handkerchief. You can hold the attention of the audience on it - throw it into the air and catch it. This will dispel the suspicions of the audience. But still they will want to examine the pack in detail. The performer shows the viewers a pack in expanded form, and then tears it into small pieces.
