Do you know how boards are made? There is a special machine for this. It is called a sawmill frame.

A steel frame with saws swings in the car. Up down! Up down! The sharp teeth of the saws sparkle. The machine grabs the log and pushes it straight onto the saws. Vzhzhy-vzhzhy! Vzhzhy-vzhzhy! Sawdust is flying like a fountain. On the other side of the car, it is no longer a log that crawls out, but a pack of long boards.

Before, when there were no cars, the logs were sawn by hand. They put a log on high goats, and one sawer stood on top, and the other - below. They were holding a long saw by the ends. Both sawyers leaned over - vzhzhi! - the saw went down. Then both straightened up - the saw went up. Then they leaned over again. Vzhzhi! So they bowed all day long. Once they pass along the log - they will saw off one board. Once again they will pass - they will saw off another one. It was hard work!

Now, almost nowhere else they saw it. But you can make a toy sawyer. He will bow very diligently and "saw" the edge of the table. However, the table will not suffer from this, so feel free to get to work.

For the body of the sawfly, pick up a cork stopper from a bottle. The more it is, the better. If there is no large cork, you can take a slice of a thick carrot 4-5 cm long. But such a sawfly will live only one day. Then the carrot will dry out and shrink.

Sharpen two matches and stick them into the bottom of the cork. These are legs. The match heads will be the sawyer's shoes. Bend the saw from thick wire. It should be two to three times longer than the figure. Insert the upper end deeper into the cork where a live sawfly would have a chest. Plant a potato on the bottom end of the wire.

Cut out the head and hands of the sawyer from paper and glue it to the body or mold it from plasticine. To make the wire look more like a saw, attach teeth to it. Cut out a strip with teeth from paper and bend its edge. Having smeared the edge well with glue, put the strip on the wire and squeeze it.

Diligent Sawfly

When the glue dries, the sawyer will be ready to start his hard work. Put it on the edge of the table and bend the wire so that it stands upright. Now shake the potato. The sawyer will begin to swing. One, two! One, two! Up down! So he can work with his saw for a long time. And when it "gets tired" and stops, swing it again.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Pessimism Gene 29.05.2021

Experts from Canada came to the conclusion that a person may have a genetic predisposition to a negative perception of life situations.

A pessimistic position in life can be held by people who are carriers of the altered ADRA2b gene. Researchers from the University of British Columbia conducted a series of experiments that showed that this gene, as a result of changes, is able to make a person see the world in gloomy colors. It also contributes to a brighter perception of certain events, especially negative ones.

According to Rebecca Todd, author of the study, this is the first time scientists have been able to uncover a possible reason for a person's pessimistic attitude. As it turned out, this genetic variation can have a really strong impact on how people see the world and how they perceive it.

The ADRA2b gene variant significantly affects the production of the hormone and neurotransmitter norepinephrine, which is responsible for the defense response in case of danger and plays an important role in the formation of emotional memory.

The last study included 200 people. Each of them was shown positive, negative and neutral words at an accelerated pace. As it turned out, volunteers who are carriers of the ADRA2b gene variant showed a more violent reaction to negative words than everyone else.

These people are more likely to react to sullen faces in the crowd, and when they find themselves in nature, they cannot enjoy its charms, focusing on all sorts of dangers. For example, they begin to look for trees that may have ticks, or they find slippery places.
