Sony Digital Paper DPT-RP1

23.05.2017

Sony introduced the second generation Digital Paper device (DPT-RP1). The size of the electrophoretic screen is the same as the first generation Digital Paper (DPT-S1), i.e. 13,3 inches. However, its resolution has been increased from 1200 x 1600 pixels to 1650 x 2200 pixels. The DPT-RP1 uses an E Ink Mobius screen on a flexible backing to keep the device thin and light. The thickness of the device is 5,8 mm, weight - 345 g.

Other improvements include more accurate touch input, allowing for handwritten notes, and the ability to connect wirelessly to a PC.

The basis of the device is a 64-bit quad-core Marvell processor. The user can view two documents in parallel, annotate, zoom, search by pattern, and protect with encryption.

The Digital Paper configuration includes 16 GB of flash memory, which, according to the manufacturer, is enough to store thousands of PDF documents. Sending a document to Digital Paper memory is as simple as using the Print to Digital Paper function in your office program or the file menu. The list of Digital Paper interfaces includes Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and USB. Synchronization with Dropbox, Box and Google Docs is provided. Without recharging the battery, the device can last up to three weeks.

The novelty should appear on sale in June at a price of $700.

The existence of an entropy rule for quantum entanglement has been proven 09.05.2024

Quantum mechanics continues to amaze us with its mysterious phenomena and unexpected discoveries. Recently, Bartosz Regula from the RIKEN Center for Quantum Computing and Ludovico Lamy from the University of Amsterdam presented a new discovery that concerns quantum entanglement and its relation to entropy. Quantum entanglement plays an important role in modern quantum information science and technology. However, the complexity of its structure makes understanding and managing it challenging. Regulus and Lamy's discovery shows that quantum entanglement follows an entropy rule similar to that for classical systems. This discovery opens new perspectives in the field of quantum information science and technology, deepening our understanding of quantum entanglement and its connection to thermodynamics. The results of the study indicate the possibility of reversibility of entanglement transformations, which could greatly simplify their use in various quantum technologies. Opening a new rule ... >>

New method for creating powerful batteries 08.05.2024

With the development of technology and the expanding use of electronics, the issue of creating efficient and safe energy sources is becoming increasingly urgent. Researchers at the University of Queensland have unveiled a new approach to creating high-power zinc-based batteries that could change the landscape of the energy industry. One of the main problems with traditional water-based rechargeable batteries was their low voltage, which limited their use in modern devices. But thanks to a new method developed by scientists, this drawback has been successfully overcome. As part of their research, scientists turned to a special organic compound - catechol. It turned out to be an important component that can improve battery stability and increase its efficiency. This approach has led to a significant increase in the voltage of zinc-ion batteries, making them more competitive. According to scientists, such batteries have several advantages. They have b ... >>

Alcohol content of warm beer 07.05.2024

Beer, as one of the most common alcoholic drinks, has its own unique taste, which can change depending on the temperature of consumption. A new study by an international team of scientists has found that beer temperature has a significant impact on the perception of alcoholic taste. The study, led by materials scientist Lei Jiang, found that at different temperatures, ethanol and water molecules form different types of clusters, which affects the perception of alcoholic taste. At low temperatures, more pyramid-like clusters form, which reduces the pungency of the "ethanol" taste and makes the drink taste less alcoholic. On the contrary, as the temperature increases, the clusters become more chain-like, resulting in a more pronounced alcoholic taste. This explains why the taste of some alcoholic drinks, such as baijiu, can change depending on temperature. The data obtained opens up new prospects for beverage manufacturers, ... >>

Fujitsu Primergy servers based on Intel Xeon E5 v4 processors 06.04.2016

Fujitsu has announced a complete revamp of its Primergy XNUMX-socket server line, from tower servers to compute nodes for high performance clusters. The new Primergy lineup includes classic tower servers, rack servers, blade servers, compact server nodes for clusters, and dedicated rack models for service providers and hosting companies.

In general, the company updated the following systems: Primergy RX2510 M2, RX2530 M2, RX2540 M2 and RX2560 M2; Primergy TX2560 M2; Primergy BX2560 M2 and BX2580 M2; Primergy CX2550 M2 and CX2570 M2. With new Intel Xeon E5-2600 v4 family processors and up to 4 MHz DDR2400 memory technology, Fujitsu estimates that the new generation of dual-socket Primergy servers deliver approximately 20% performance improvements over the previous generation.

Fujitsu Primergy system users can reduce system cooling energy costs with Fujitsu's Cool-safe Advanced Thermal Design technology, which raises the safe operating temperature from 40°C to 45°C for most rack, floor and scale-out systems. In turn, support for Trusted Platform Module (TPM) 2.0 technology will help protect the IT infrastructure from attacks by intruders, as the systems are able to check communications and manage the data encryption process.

Primergy RX Rack Systems are all-in-one servers optimized for data center rack cabinets that deliver the performance and energy efficiency you expect. Their low failure rates make them the best solution for running business-critical services (such as plant management systems or key business applications). Focusing on the needs of service providers and hosting companies, Fujitsu also launched the Primergy RX2510 M2.

Primergy TX floorstanding systems are cost-effective servers designed for use in office environments. With ease of use, they can be operated by employees without special technical skills. And with low power consumption and quiet operation, dual-socket TX systems are suitable for demanding office environments, including branch offices and healthcare facilities. All TX systems support Trusted Platform Module 2.0 technology as standard, protecting equipment and sensitive corporate data.

Primergy BX blade systems are the building blocks for building converged IT infrastructures. Based on a modular architecture, blade systems demonstrate high density and scalability. This helps companies simplify their infrastructures, reduce costs and increase operational agility.

Primergy CX scale-out systems are specifically designed for cloud environments, high-performance computing and complex computing, including standard workloads of scientific organizations, such as universities and research institutes. With Cool-safe Advanced Thermal Design technology that operates at temperatures up to 45°C, CX systems reduce data center ventilation requirements and, as a result, reduce cooling costs.
