The article will focus on the fight against advertising in television programs. The author of the material published below offers another version of a simple device for this purpose.

Advertising, as you know, is the "engine" of trade. But especially you start to think about it only in the evening, when you sit down to watch a movie that interests you on TV. However, it is often interrupted by advertisements at increased volume. Some annoyed viewers may even turn off the TV. The most persistent remain at the screens, turning down the volume with the remote control. If it is not there, then every time you have to get up and adjust on the TV control panel. The disadvantages of all this are obvious.

In order to reduce the volume of the sound during advertising automatically, and then also automatically increase it, the author developed a simple device proposed for repetition. It monitors the level of the audio signal of the television picture. If the maximum volume level is exceeded, the device reduces it or completely turns off the sound.

Simple block Anti-advertising. Schematic diagram of the device

Rice. 1 Schematic diagram of the device

The connection of the block in question is very simple: to break the signal circuit 34 to the volume control. In the author's version, it is built into a four-channel amplifier 34 connected to the line output of the TV. The signal from the output of the IF sound amplifier (UP43) goes to the block, and from it - to the volume control and then to the amplifier 34.

The device diagram is shown in the figure. After turning on the TV, a signal 34 is sent to the unit. Through the resistors R1 and R3, it passes to the volume control of the device. The cascade on the transistor VT1, which is a half-wave detector, monitors signal changes, and in the absence of advertising it is open. In this case, the transistor V3 is closed and does not affect (with resistor R7) the signal path 34.

Transistor VT1 starts to close only when the signal 34 increases, which happens during advertising, above the value set by the trimmer resistor R2, and it closes with negative "half-waves" of the signal. In this case, the capacitor C3 is charged through the resistors R6, R8 and the emitter junction of the transistor VT2, opening it. The capacitor C4 is discharged through it (quite quickly), and then the capacitor C5. At a time when the transistor VT1 is open, the capacitor C3 is discharged through it and resistors R8, R9.

When the capacitors C4, C5 are discharged, the transistor VT3 will go into the open state and connect the resistor R7 to the signal flow circuit 34. As a result, the level of the audio signal supplied to the amplifier 34 will drop sharply and the sound playback volume will decrease significantly. The volume reduction level can be changed with a trimming resistor R7.

The rate of rise of sound during recovery can be changed by selecting capacitor C5. The time during which the device keeps the sound at a reduced volume is set by selecting capacitor C4. In the author's version, after the peak volume of the sound, the block keeps it reduced for another 20 s, and the increase occurs within 1 s. If the capacitance of the capacitor C5 is chosen less than C 01 uF, then a characteristic (quiet) click is heard when the sound is restored.

It should be noted that the device clearly "cuts out" advertising only on those channels on which the change in sound volume is noticeable by ear. In this case, the setting of the block is reduced to ensuring reliable detection of advertising by the level of sound by adjusting the resistor R2. If the sound level also depends on the received channel, it is recommended to install a switch with selected resistors for each channel instead of R2.

In the case when you still want to listen to some advertising, you can provide a button with a fixation to restore the volume. It is connected in parallel with the R10 resistor with a 1 kΩ limiting resistor connected in series. It is recommended to install a button (latching) to turn off the unit via the +12 V circuit.

The resistance of the resistor R1 may be less. The main thing is not to overload the linear output with a large current.

Alcohol content of warm beer 07.05.2024

Beer, as one of the most common alcoholic drinks, has its own unique taste, which can change depending on the temperature of consumption. A new study by an international team of scientists has found that beer temperature has a significant impact on the perception of alcoholic taste. The study, led by materials scientist Lei Jiang, found that at different temperatures, ethanol and water molecules form different types of clusters, which affects the perception of alcoholic taste. At low temperatures, more pyramid-like clusters form, which reduces the pungency of the "ethanol" taste and makes the drink taste less alcoholic. On the contrary, as the temperature increases, the clusters become more chain-like, resulting in a more pronounced alcoholic taste. This explains why the taste of some alcoholic drinks, such as baijiu, can change depending on temperature. The data obtained opens up new prospects for beverage manufacturers, ... >>

Major risk factor for gambling addiction 07.05.2024

Computer games are becoming an increasingly popular form of entertainment among teenagers, but the associated risk of gaming addiction remains a significant problem. American scientists conducted a study to determine the main factors contributing to this addiction and offer recommendations for its prevention. Over the course of six years, 385 teenagers were followed to find out what factors may predispose them to gambling addiction. The results showed that 90% of study participants were not at risk of addiction, while 10% became gambling addicts. It turned out that the key factor in the onset of gambling addiction is a low level of prosocial behavior. Teenagers with a low level of prosocial behavior do not show interest in the help and support of others, which can lead to a loss of contact with the real world and a deepening dependence on virtual reality offered by computer games. Based on these results, scientists ... >>

Traffic noise delays the growth of chicks 06.05.2024

The sounds that surround us in modern cities are becoming increasingly piercing. However, few people think about how this noise affects the animal world, especially such delicate creatures as chicks that have not yet hatched from their eggs. Recent research is shedding light on this issue, indicating serious consequences for their development and survival. Scientists have found that exposure of zebra diamondback chicks to traffic noise can cause serious disruption to their development. Experiments have shown that noise pollution can significantly delay their hatching, and those chicks that do emerge face a number of health-promoting problems. The researchers also found that the negative effects of noise pollution extend into the adult birds. Reduced chances of reproduction and decreased fertility indicate the long-term effects that traffic noise has on wildlife. The study results highlight the need ... >>

Mate significantly increases the risk of cancer 05.03.2022

Tea is one of the most popular drinks in the world. But not every tea is equally good. So a new study has shown that regular consumption of one type of tea can increase the risk of developing several types of cancer.

This is mate tea. Proponents of its use believe that herbal tea helps to overcome fatigue, helps to lose weight, relieve headaches and ease depression. But according to the Mayo Clinic, the evidence to support this is limited.

Studies have shown that drinking the popular herbal drink can have adverse effects. The scientists reviewed data from ten studies that examined the potential risks of drinking mate tea. A study found that regular tea consumption can increase the risk of lung cancer and various types of digestive tract cancer, including esophageal cancer, liver cancer, colon cancer, and stomach cancer. Mate has also been shown to triple the risk of developing esophageal cancer.

Mate, an infusion of the herb Ilex paraguariensis, is very common in some South American countries and has been associated with an increased risk of esophageal cancer. This increased risk may be due to the high temperature of the drink or the potentially carcinogenic pollutants, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs).
