On fig. Figure 1 shows a schematic of an active low-pass filter with a cutoff frequency of 3 kHz, which can be used in a microphone transmitter amplifier or direct conversion receiver. The filter contains two identical amplifying stages on transistors T1 and T2 and an emitter follower on transistor T3.

The frequency response of the first stage is formed by the R4C3C4 feedback circuit. The phase relationships in the circuit are such that at frequencies of 2-3 kHz there is some increase in gain, and at frequencies above 3 kHz, the gain drops sharply due to strong negative feedback. At low frequencies, the capacitance of the capacitors C3 and C4 is large and there is practically no feedback. The passive T-section R1R2C2 compensates for the gain boost and causes even more attenuation of frequencies above 3 kHz. Resistor R3 creates a bias and stabilizes the cascade mode. The second stage is assembled in a similar way. The emitter follower eliminates the influence of the load on the filter parameters. If the filter works on a high-impedance load (more than 5 kOhm), then the emitter follower can be excluded, and the output signal can be removed from the T2 collector.

The normalized frequency response of the device is shown in fig. 2. To avoid non-linear distortion, the input signal should not exceed 10 mV. The signal amplitude in this case reaches 2 V, that is, it is sufficient for direct supply, for example, to a semiconductor balanced modulator.

The filter is relatively uncritical to the parameter of the resistors and capacitors included in it, so parts with a tolerance of + -10% can be used in it. Instead of those indicated in the diagram, you can use any low-frequency transistors with Vst \u50d 100-XNUMX. When properly installed, filter adjustment is not required.

With the ratings shown in the diagram, the most flat frequency response is obtained in the 300 Hz - 3 kHz band. A decrease or increase in the capacitance of capacitors C2 and C6 creates, respectively, an increase or decrease in the characteristics at frequencies of 2-3 kHz. If, in order to improve speech intelligibility, it is desirable to obtain a smooth decline in the characteristics in the low-frequency region, the capacitance of the transition capacitors C1 and C5 should be reduced. In this case, the signal amplification will decrease somewhat.

If the signal is fed to the filter input from the output of the transistor amplifying stage, the resistor R1 should be excluded, and the resistance of the resistor in the collector circuit of this transistor should be set to 2,2 kΩ.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Headphones Xiaomi Buds 4 Pro 03.03.2023

Xiaomi has introduced new wireless headphones with Hi-Res sound.

The Chinese brand Xioami, which specializes mainly in inexpensive accessories and tops for their money, has introduced the new Xiaomi Buds 4 Pro wireless headphones. As the name implies, the device is in the flagship line; moreover, the company calls them "immersive".

The fact is that Xiaomi Buds 4 Pro support high-quality sound thanks to Hi-Res Audio Wireless technology. This means that a potential buyer will be able to use the headphones not only for "technical" sound - podcasts, videos or conversations - but also for listening to music with a high bitrate. Sound quality will be even better thanks to Sony's latest LDAC sound distortion reduction system.

As for noise reduction, it is on top here: the built-in system is able to cut off up to 48 dB of ambient noise. For comparison, Samsung Buds Pro only inhibit 33dB and AirPopds Pro 35dB. In terms of "noise reduction", the novelty works much more efficiently and will be able to remove not only low-frequency, but also mid-frequency noises - for example, city bustle or metal roar.
In addition to all of the above, Xiaomi Buds 4 Pro support surround sound: the headphones can track the position of the listener's head and place the sound stage accordingly. AirPods Pro have a similar feature. Another great feature of "apple" headphones - quick switching between devices - is also in the new product, which can switch between two devices without any extra actions.

From a single charge, the Buds 4 Pro will last up to 9 hours, increasing to 38 hours, taking into account the capacity of the charging case - by the way, it can be charged wirelessly.
