The antenna amplifier brought to the attention of readers is designed to amplify the signals of broadcasting and television stations in the meter range.

Main technical characteristics of the amplifier

Bandwidth. MHz. when the signal is weakened at the edges of the range 3, dB....50...350
Self-noise level, dB....3,5
Input impedance, Ohm....75
Rated load resistance, Ohm....75
Voltage gain with an input signal of 5 μV, dB, at a frequency, MHz:
48 .... 39
230 .... 41

Schematic diagram of the amplifier is given in the figure. It is assembled on four transistors connected according to a common emitter circuit. A feature of the amplifier is the use of inductors as collector loads of transistors V3-V5, which reduced the blockage of the amplitude-frequency characteristic (AFC) of the amplifier at higher frequencies.

The amplifier remains operational when the supply voltage drops to 4 V. In this case, the gain in the entire frequency range decreases to 36 dB. To operate the amplifier at a low supply voltage, the D814A zener diode must be replaced with a KS139A or KS147A. The current drawn from the power supply will drop to 15 mA in this case.

The amplifier is mounted on four boards with dimensions of 25x40 mm made of double-sided foil fiberglass 2 mm thick. One side of the board is used as a screen. The boards are installed in rectangular recesses of the brass case and are separated from each other by shielding partitions soldered directly to the foil surface of the boards.

Coils L1, L2, L4 contain 2,5 each, and L3 - 4 turns of PEL 1,0 wire. The winding diameter of coils L1-L3 is 12, and L4 is 20 mm. Winding step - 8 mm.

The adjustment of the amplifier begins with the setting of the DC transistor modes in accordance with those indicated on its diagram. Then proceed to the adjustment of the frequency response. To do this, you can use the devices X1-19A, X1-1. TR-0813 or GKCh of any type.

On GKCh set the selected frequency range at the maximum swing band. A voltage of 5 μV is applied to the input of the amplifier (such a signal corresponds to an attenuation of 1 dB on the X19-50A device). Setting up the amplifier is reduced to selecting the locations of the taps from the coils L1-L4 until the required transmission pass is obtained. The frequency response can also be measured using a calibrated standard signal generator and a tube voltmeter, shunting the latter with a 75 Ohm resistor (see the article by I. Genshenz, V. Kolomiets and N. Savenko "Antenna amplifier with remote tuning" in "Radio", 1975, No. 4, pp. 15, 16).

Alcohol content of warm beer 07.05.2024

Beer, as one of the most common alcoholic drinks, has its own unique taste, which can change depending on the temperature of consumption. A new study by an international team of scientists has found that beer temperature has a significant impact on the perception of alcoholic taste. The study, led by materials scientist Lei Jiang, found that at different temperatures, ethanol and water molecules form different types of clusters, which affects the perception of alcoholic taste. At low temperatures, more pyramid-like clusters form, which reduces the pungency of the "ethanol" taste and makes the drink taste less alcoholic. On the contrary, as the temperature increases, the clusters become more chain-like, resulting in a more pronounced alcoholic taste. This explains why the taste of some alcoholic drinks, such as baijiu, can change depending on temperature. The data obtained opens up new prospects for beverage manufacturers, ... >>

Major risk factor for gambling addiction 07.05.2024

Computer games are becoming an increasingly popular form of entertainment among teenagers, but the associated risk of gaming addiction remains a significant problem. American scientists conducted a study to determine the main factors contributing to this addiction and offer recommendations for its prevention. Over the course of six years, 385 teenagers were followed to find out what factors may predispose them to gambling addiction. The results showed that 90% of study participants were not at risk of addiction, while 10% became gambling addicts. It turned out that the key factor in the onset of gambling addiction is a low level of prosocial behavior. Teenagers with a low level of prosocial behavior do not show interest in the help and support of others, which can lead to a loss of contact with the real world and a deepening dependence on virtual reality offered by computer games. Based on these results, scientists ... >>

Traffic noise delays the growth of chicks 06.05.2024

The sounds that surround us in modern cities are becoming increasingly piercing. However, few people think about how this noise affects the animal world, especially such delicate creatures as chicks that have not yet hatched from their eggs. Recent research is shedding light on this issue, indicating serious consequences for their development and survival. Scientists have found that exposure of zebra diamondback chicks to traffic noise can cause serious disruption to their development. Experiments have shown that noise pollution can significantly delay their hatching, and those chicks that do emerge face a number of health-promoting problems. The researchers also found that the negative effects of noise pollution extend into the adult birds. Reduced chances of reproduction and decreased fertility indicate the long-term effects that traffic noise has on wildlife. The study results highlight the need ... >>

Oxygen stops aging 26.11.2020

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is used for decompression sickness, carbon monoxide poisoning, injuries that led to severe blood loss, burns, and severe infections (although its effectiveness has not yet been confirmed in all cases). The essence of the procedure is that the patient is in a chamber (pressure chamber) with a pressure that is higher than normal atmospheric pressure. Under such conditions, the blood is better saturated with oxygen - it is carried not only by erythrocytes, but also to a large extent by blood plasma.

Researchers at Tel Aviv University have found that telomeres lengthen in human immune cells after hyperbaric oxygen therapy. So called end sections of chromosomes, in which no genetic information is encoded. Their job is to protect the rest of the chromosome from damage. Telomeres shorten over time, and the shorter it is, the greater the likelihood of various age-related anomalies. Therefore, they are called one of the indicators of aging.

On the other hand, cells have an enzyme that can lengthen telomeres, but this enzyme is usually inactive. Saturation of the blood with oxygen, apparently, somehow activates it. The experiments were carried out with 35 volunteers over 64 years of age - within three months they underwent 60 sessions of hyperbaric oxygen therapy. As a result, telomeres in immune blood cells lengthened by 20-38%. That is, oxygenation not only stopped aging, but also reversed it - at least in these cells.

In the blood, the proportion of aged cells decreased by 11-37%. We have already talked about such cells: despite all the aging processes, the program of cellular self-destruction does not turn on in them, as it should be in the norm. As a result, the cell, having grown old, continues to live and age even deeper, and at the same time it releases various substances that spoil the life of other cells. Animal experiments have shown that if the body is cleansed of aged cells, it prevents some age-related diseases and prolongs life.

A lot depends on our immune system. Perhaps with the help of hyperbaric oxygen therapy, which rejuvenates it, we will be able to do what we do with mice: delay age-related diseases and increase life expectancy. Although all the same, sooner or later it is necessary to find out the mechanism that links rejuvenation with an increased level of oxygen in the blood.
